The kitty is doing very well, other than the peeing and pooping in the
litter box part.
She is faithfully eating and drinking, and pottying.... just not in the
litter box.
She got a better bath this morning, and is now more conscientious about
her grooming.
Now, she is exploring the house, and getting more acquainted with
gabby, the cocker spainel, and Koko, our other kitty.
We have named her Kady, which is Scottish for little warrior.
She is a warrior for fighting successfully at the last possible moment
to live.
When we went to the reg vet yesterday, he said she would probably have
died by now, if we had not rescued her when she did.
I will post some pics from today over at alt.binaries.pictures.animals
again.

Excellent name! With my kittens (when they were kittens) one thing I did was
plop them in the box every 1/2 hour or so and make over them when they did
business. As they got a little older I would always plop them in after
eating, and they almost *always* had to go then.

I did the warm damp cotton ball on the appropriate part of his
physiology thing with Sprocket after he ate, put him in the box, and
made his little paws dig, but I think the thing that did the trick with
him was putting into the box some of the poop he'd scattered around. He
never strayed from the box after that.

Hmm. Now that she is settling, in, you might try placing her in the box
after she eats, very gently, and praising her. Maybe take her little
paws and push the litter around a bit and praise her some more!
(I say now that she is settling in because it certainly was not first
priority while she was not eating, but is now as you are forming
habits that will last a life time.)

I love her name, and I love you for taking her in and doing
everything you could for her, including spending money at the
vet to make sure she gets the best care. This will come back
to you tenfold.

No doubt. You are her guardian angel.

She looks so happy and your little cocker and other cat are
so friendly. Just think, if you had not cared for her she could
be just one more of thousands of cats that perished across the
country last weekend.
I wonder where her litter mates are?
Anyway, she is beautiful and I think she will have that kind
of medium-long fur that is so lovely on a brown tabby.

Such a gorgeous little girl. Thanks for the pictures and the update.
Keep them coming! I just love happy endings...
