Well....... I don't want to jinx anything, but it's been over a week
since Carey urinated inappropriately. Considering she has had to put
up with a 12 week old foster puppy in the house during that time, I
would say she's doing pretty well! She actually doesn't mind puppies.
Her vocalizations have toned down a little bit as well, and they seem
more concentrated on "hey - I want to eat and NOW". Not so attractive
at 5:30 a.m., but hopefully that will get better on it's own or with
the timed feeder (friend still looking for it).
Whether it's the presence of the puppy or the prozac, she has not been
indulging in her OCD behavior of mounting/sucking on the adult dogs,
so we're hoping for the best there too!
Now, if I could only get the &(*(*)( pills cut in quarters a bit more
easily! Off to buy a new cutter with a new and hopefully sharp
blade.....

Nope this is a cat that's been prescribed Prozac to deal with problems.
Glad to see it's working so far

John, who is a nice guy, paid too much attention to a.shole Phillip, got
upset by his posts and lost his mind.
It happens. :(

I'm glad to hear she's doing better. It wasn't until after we had
argued in circles for a while that I recalled who Carey is. You
shared photos of her months ago.

They seem to wear out/ get dull quickly. I need to get Buddha
a new one too. There is just a simple razor blade in there, seems
they could make them replaceable.

I was just thinking about that last night after splitting a pill for TK.
There are 2 flaws with the current designs. A non-replaceable
blade and the pill binding against the sides of the "V' and compressing
as the blade forces the 2 halves apart causing it to crumble. It's
not a big problem for humans 'cause we can always pick up
a few stray pieces and swallow them. But for a cat, one chunk
of a pill is traumatic enough.
So now I'm curious. What would you be willing to pay for a
pill splitter that used a standard, replaceable, razor blade and
was designed to minimize or eliminate crumbling from compression.
And if it lasted for:
Several years?
or
Came with a lifetime replacement warranty?
I was thinking of making one for just myself, but maybe there's
a market for this.
Let's see....$2.00 profit/unit from a couple million pet owners........

I'd be willing to pay $35.00 if I could replace the blade.

Thanks. I'm a little surprised you'd pay that much when
the average, cheap, splitter sells for under $5.
I'd certainly pay $35 for a good quality splitter, if I could
find one. since trying to get a good split on TKs pills has
been a PITA.. I've tried 3 different splitters and the only one
that was worth a damn only worked well for 3 or 4 pills. Then
that one got dull and crumbled pills.
I was thinking there might be a market for one that went
for about $20 and worked with standard blades. I'll have to
play around with a few ideas. Right now, the best way I've
found is a razor blade on a plate. With a new blade every
3 or 4 pills. But to get 2 equal halves takes a good eye.
There's got to be a better way! It seems like I'm not the
only one with that problem.

$20 would be a lot better. The cheap one I bought cost
$15 and you can't replace the blade.
You may want to get the prozac compounded into the exact dosage. I use a
compounding veterinary pharmacy in Houston. 1-877-VETRXRX. They can make
the med into the exact dosage you need (no pill splitting!) and can even
make it into a flavored treat or flavored liquid. They will need a
prescription from your vet, but they ship overnight...really quick.
Glad the prozac is working....I also have a cat on prozac and it has helped
his spraying problem.

Now your cat sprays with a Cheshire Cat (Prozac) smile?
