Some things can be cured with bisquick and coke cola.
and windex.
Lord, Im going to become a vet.

TAKE IT TO THE VET!!!
(ask a silly question... get a silly answer?)
It is clearly a cookie cutter answer on the Internet. If there were a fund the same author was required to donate into every time she said "take it to a vet", you probably would almost never hear that answer.
They could at least give one additional answer along with their disclaimer, if they insist on harping the same old answer.
For the writing challenged, the new-improved answer would go something like this.
"Please take it to a vet... if you cannot do that (even though I think you should), try this... "
Unfortunately, the simple answer "take it to a vet" is just too easy. Another possibility would be for that author to at least read the rest of the thread to see how many other times the same cookie cutter answer has been given. She could then use that in her disclaimer.
Any regular already knows, so its not a big deal. It is probably also somewhat political.
Have fun.
Mary - 30 May 2005 20:45 GMT > > This is such a cookie cutter answer. > > [quoted text clipped - 32 lines] > Any regular already knows, so its not a big deal. It is probably > also somewhat political. Here is a clue for both you and Barry:
In general when your pet is sick or injured, a veterinarian is the one to trust, not some whacked out blowhards in a Usenet group.
WTF is wrong with you two? The a.sholes who come in here looking for ways NOT to pay for a vet do not need reinforcement. They already know how many videos that money will rent, how many bottles of swill it might buy.
You do the animals no service at all by following Elle's idiotic lead.
bigbadbarry - 30 May 2005 21:08 GMT > Here is a clue for both you and Barry: > [quoted text clipped - 8 lines] > You do the animals no service at all by following Elle's idiotic > lead. Don't act like you care.
Once you blasted her for not going to the vet, and making plenty of asssumption on her part...you proceeded to talk about trailer park sluts and trash and went on and on...then Catnip talks about middle class trash and so on..
Get something straight here. money has nothing to do with ethics and morals, you only reveal your true self, when you spew this ignorance.
Dammit

> Get something straight here. money has nothing to do with ethics and > morals, you only reveal your true self, when you spew this ignorance. This does not even follow. We have already made the point that lots of people who have lots of money do not want to spend it on their pets.
If you think for an instant that Elaine does not have the money to take her cat in, you are a flaming f.cking idiot. Money or the lack thereof was not the point.
Elaine posts like an ignorant cretin, and is planning on breeding her cats. If Ruprecht's tale were bleeding, would you run first to Usenet or to the vet?
> Dammit What the hell happened to your brain over the weekend? You're thinking like a stump.

To use Phillips words here..
There is a gap between your thinking and some of the posters here
but I be darned if you don't just fry them on the spot, my Lord!
and chew everybody up that even acts like they don't agree with you.

Barry ... that was a paraphrase at best! Hahhaha. If I were a veterinarian faced with Mary and her cat that *might* benefit from psychotropic drug therapy, I would at least ask Mary if she would try some too!

What happened Barry, did Mary unintentionally insult you so your love for her has now turned to bitter hate in the span of a couple of hours?
LOL - there you go again Mary, they're either stalking you out of unrequited love or stalking you out of irrational hatred, there's just no middle ground when it comes to you, is there? You gots da power baBAY! ;>
Barry, get a grip dude. "Catnip" talked about the fact that what constitutes "trash" is not who lives where and how much disposable cash they may have. What makes you trash or treasure is the size of your heart, not the size of your bank account! Did I not make that clear, or have you been sniffing too much glue today???
*We saw "The Longest Yard", and as much as I dislike Adam Sandler, it was *HILARIOUS* and I highly recommend it.
Hugs,

BTW, I don't think you ever said, but how did he get hurt. It was a slice you say?
Oh, another question that you may or may not want to answer, and I want take it personal if you don't want to answer.
It's about breeding...
You think you will do it? Putting the pieces together, seems like you had no plans as of yet, but stated that you had thought about it.
I'm not an apologist by any means, but many of the users here work at shelters, so they see a very dank side of breeding, they frown on it you know; they see alot of neglect. Shelter workers (which is volunteer for the most part; I think), attribute abandoned and neglected cats to in-experienced breeders who are just "doing it for the money".
You got my word, I'm not trying to bait you so I can jump you, this is America right? I may have an opinion, but it's still ok to treat people like I want to be treated.
Good Day!

The woman recently lost her mother, is suffering financial difficulties, and is worried about her daughter's new kitten.
Giving this person a hard time is not an effective way to help the kitten, so those who have been doing so: Take credit for any harm that comes the kitten's way.
Of course, this woman could always take the kitten to a shelter, where it stands a high chance of being euthanized...

One day a man was walking home in the cold and found a frozen snake by the roadside.
The man took the frozen snake home and thawed him out by the warm fire.
Soon, the snake thawed out, and would you believe; the snake bit the man.
Wow, what an ingrateful snake?...nah, it never ceased to be a snake, no matter what someone had done for it.

There, did I leave out any of her lies? Sheesh, she couldn't even keep them all straight, how was I supposed to?!!

She's just lonely and has lashed out at Mary, because Mary really cares, and Mary is one of the few who didn't blow smoke up her a.s, but read the girls mail.
Yeah, she lied about the vet, and really, exaggerrated the injury, just because she needed some attention.

I am no different than anybody here, I don't have any tolerance for abusers and neglectors either
I'm just not going to dialectic in the process

Hey, I'll be the first to flame someone for being a shmuck to their pets, and for being a part of the problem, my technics are just a little different.
I like to draw them in, and be convinced that they are being honest with me, if truth is not on the table, then my ammo is nothing more than a cow patty being flung across the net. INCOMING!!!

Well, tomatoes tomatos, barbadas barbados...
We've all done this at some point, talking to someone, and you can't find not one nice thing in common, but a dialectic will resort to negativity to find that common ground...it's a very awkward thing.
He might say...man, the price of gas is up, boom, we found a place of common ground, but right down the line, it's all negative.
A dialectic is someone who makes friends based on agreeing on the things they mutually hate. Nothing More.
These two may never have common ground as far as something they like, and this is the difference...the only common ground a dialectic has with someone is negative things, things specifically they mutually hate.
Its a low level of negotiating terms
Now my other post will probably show up.
bigbadbarry - 31 May 2005 20:01 GMT > Hugs, > > CatNipped The keyword here is hate, talking about the things people hate. (it's a bottom level tactic is what it is) it's not based on common interests, it has it's root in negativity.
A dialectic finds common ground with someone based entirely upon the very things someone else dislikes.(by talking about it)
It's ok once in a while, but to habitually use this tactic, well, what kind of people would you really be in company with.
You'd find yourself in the company of people that you do not really like, but who like you, because you agree with them about things they hate; Nothing More!

The puppy is a Lab, and he wants to play with our kitten too. Any help from anyone here?
Ed - 02 Jun 2005 05:53 GMT Well, I guess no one wants to help @ the moment, but that is fine. I will be back tomorrow to see. I hope that I can get some help soon though. Have a nice night. :-)

I can't help you because I have never introduced a puppy to a kitten.
Ed - 02 Jun 2005 15:31 GMT Thats o.k. Mary thank you for replying. I hope that every one is having a good day. I am off to work now. Take Care.

I would just keep an eye on them until you are sure that they wont fight. Maybe you can keep them separated for a few days or something. It sounds like the cat wants to play, so I would think that is good. Not sure what else you can really do though.
Good luck!
Ed - 02 Jun 2005 23:04 GMT well, today I went to work. The puppy and kitten did real good nothing was broken LOL. and they are playing. Thank You :-) Ed
Mary - 02 Jun 2005 23:10 GMT > well, today I went to work. The puppy and kitten did real good nothing was > broken LOL. and they are playing. > Thank You :-) > Ed Ed, Normally people would have more to say! But it sounds like they're doing fine. Tell me, did you leave them together while you were at work? Also, I think we need to see some photos. You can set up a free Yahoo photo page. :)
Ed - 03 Jun 2005 00:56 GMT yes, Mary I left them alone together. They did just fine. And as soon as I get some pictures, I would be happy to show them off but, in the mean time I am sorry. :( Thank you all for your help and understanding. Ed

Yes, and make sure that the cat always has an escape route. A gate they can jump over or furniture that they are allowed to get up on.

Ed - 03 Jun 2005 00:57 GMT The kitten has a gate that only he can get over LOL.
Ed - 04 Jun 2005 05:50 GMT Well today I was sitting here, doing nothing and I looked over and seen the kitten and puppy playing. The kitten was attacking our puppy and playing. It was so cute and I just thought I would share it with everyone. -Ed :-)
Ed - 04 Jun 2005 06:00 GMT Good-night everyone I am going to bed now. Take care and God Bless you all.
CATacombs - 04 Jun 2005 16:28 GMT I've been to message boards with no central character like Mary and generally they stink. You need either a moderator or ringleader for people to bounce off of. It's the difference between listening to a lead singer with a chorus, vs. just the chorus itself.
I've written to some other cat boards with questions, and generally have gotten blah answers I could have thought of myself. It's boring writing to boards like that because they're so neutral and lifeless.
There's times when Mary has been a real jerk, and other times when she is right on the money about someone..based on just a few words of their post. I don't know what she does for a living, but she could easily be one of those CNN political pundit talking heads, if she wanted to.
There was one Yahoo group I belonged to that ran for a few years that was moderated by a real nutcase. It was great, I checked it 5 times a day for the latest arguments. Then the nutcase, who had been threatening to do this for years..canceled the group taking the years of archives with him down in flames.
Mary should go on a months's hiatus and wait and see how dull this board will become. Oh make that two months.
And why doesn't that hag take Phil P. with her.
Another A**hole.
Hee hee!

Learn to quote a part of the post to which you are referring. You are posting to Usenet, not just CatKB. Your golden words have been and will be archived for all eternity.
P.S.--You are stupid, mean-spirited, and probably ugly in other ways too. Phil P. has saved some kitty lives around here. All you have done is stir up sh.t. j.rkoff.

My Daddy used to gently suggest that I "engage brain before opening mouth." Here that would be, before typing post.

Mike - 08 Jun 2005 06:34 GMT hello all. I have 4 kittens 2 are like 4 months old and the other 2 are 7 weeks old is it normal for them to all play? One of the younger ones is real with drawn, why? she wont play with the others and always hides.
:-( I am so sad for it I found them (the younger ones) on my front porch. I am trying to become a Cat Rescue person but I have to find a way to get them spayed and nutered and I am self employed. So Money isnt a problem with me. Anyone know what I need to do to become a Cat Rescue person?
