Cat Forum / Health and Behavior / May 2005New kitten won't eat or drink
My daughter got a new kitten (8 weeks she says) on Friday. No shots or anything. She has a vet appointment next Tuesday but says at this point the cat won't eat or even drink water. She needs to get it to a vet ASAP, and until she can get it there, get some KMR (kitten replacement milk--available even at Walmart) and try to get some down the kitten with an eyedropper or syringe. When she does this, make sure the kitten is in normal feeding position and not on its back. Is there any chance she can put it back with its mother for a couple more weeks? I'm going to have to agree with Joe here, dorkus. You can also get a kitten bottle/nipple from any big petco type of store, it even comes in a "kit" these days. You can buy premixed formula or the powder you mix yourself. NOT milk! Kitten Formula... I'm not sure about bottle feeding at 8 weeks but ANYTHING you have to do to get the kitten to eat would be better than no food/water since Friday. Do you mean Friday as in yesterday or a week since yesterday? I would not wait for the daughter, I would go now and save that kitten and I mean NOW!
