There were seven cats in my front yard yesterday evening.  Two of them,
"Pip" and "Flinx" are "my" cats.  Four have clipped ears.  One stray,
"Dude" has moved in and pretty much driven "my" cats out of the house.
The four clipped ear cats are various levels of feralty.  The black long
hair is a five-foot cat.  The lynx-point long hair is semi-touchable.
The Russian Blue is a ten foot cat, but when cornered in the bathroom
and trapped under the toilet he can be stroked and he purrs.  The orange
kitten joins me at bedtime and behaves like an affectionate kitten with
kneading, head bumps and writhing around for tummy rubs.  Out of bed,
he's a five-foot cat.

All of these are male cats.  Of all the cats I've trapped for neutering,
at least three fourths have been male.  I presume this means that male
ferals outnumber female, and that females are not surviving.  Has anyone
noticed the same imbalance?

Naturally, these humorous remarks are all entirely my own opinion, based
solely
on rumor, supposition, innuendo and damned lies, and should be
interpreted in a
spirit of fun.  My memory is faulty, also.

Not in my limited trapping experience.   I have gotten females more
than males.  You might want to check out Silicon Valley Friends of
Ferals website - there are listings of cats they have caught IIRC:
http://www.svff.org. Colony #1 (Jan) has stats, I know, for sure - you
can email her if it isn't posted on the website.

I was afraid of that.  Human females avoid me also.

Hahhaha.  Lyn, you have better developed high brain functioning than the
women who avoid you.  That's a compliment.

Ooops... darned top posters. Nevermind, Lyn.

'guynoir' ... if most human females avoid you, you're either happily married
or single without obvious wealth that you're looking to share with those
women.  LOL

What is a five-foot cat?
guynoir - 22 May 2005 18:20 GMT
A "five foot cat" will approach within 5 feet.  There are also "ten foot
cats".  More than ten feet and they are "invisible cats".  There are
also "across the street" cats which means that someone else is taking
care of them.
