Thread rating: |
Mom'O3 - 17 May 2005 16:48 GMT Im going to make this quick so that I can look again.
My Cat had her kittens this morning. She is small, her backside showed that she had definately given birth.
Shes not going to her kittens, not for the past 5 hours, not once.
I have torn my house apart! Even the neighbors helped! Trust me I have looked everywhere.
What could be happening?
She was definately in the house all night. I woke up to her sitting on my bed.
Im frantic! Please Help!
Thanks, Marci
MaryL - 17 May 2005 17:16 GMT > Im going to make this quick so that I can look again. > [quoted text clipped - 15 lines] > Thanks, > Marci Look for any little enclosed area, especially one that could be warn (such as within the confines of a blanket). Also look into any boxes -- and, obviously, under objects such as beds. Cats can "hole up" in remarkably small spaces.

My sister once reached around her bathroom door with dripping hair, opened a drawer, reached in, and got a towel -- then left for work. Fortunately, I was visiting and heard one of her cats crying. I looked all through the house and finally located it in the towel drawer!

Mom'O3 - 17 May 2005 18:20 GMT Thanks guys, Im still looking. Shouldnt Kitty be near them? Shes hasnt left my side at all today, right now shes sitting on my foot!
My neighbor said something terrible! She said if there was anything wrong with the kittens the Mom may have eaten them! Is this true?
Im frantic!
Going to look more.......
Mom'O3 - 17 May 2005 18:43 GMT I FOUND THEM! I FOUND THEM! I FOUND THEM!
G-d bless you Mary! I found them in a closed empty toy drawer.....the top drawer was open though. She must have called thru from the top. Kitty is nursing them now. It looks like 4. I dont want to disturb them right now. I will post more in a bit.
Mary,
Thank you so much for your reply! I never would have thought to check there. And I think Kitty was having a hard time getting back to them. Maybe that was why she was following me around, she needed help! I'll post more later today. Let you know the count and all.
Sincerely, Marci

I want to see pictures of them when you have any.
covenantprograms@yahoo.com - 17 May 2005 23:28 GMT So glad you were able to get help here and find those kittens! I've been waiting (and praying) with my feline about-to-be mom. I hope if we have any trouble, there will be information and concerned people here for us too! I'm going to use the search engine to prepare myself. I'll check back later and look for updates on Mom'03''s Kitty and her litter. Hope you will too, MaryL. Ruth

Mom'O3 - 17 May 2005 23:11 GMT Thanks everyone!!!!!!!
Im going to go peek in on them. The kittens are making a wierd PANTING noise every few minutes.
Anyone know what that is?
Rhonda - 18 May 2005 04:02 GMT Are they still panting? Do they seem cold at all?
Mom should be laying with the kittens all the time right now, hardly leaving them at all for the first couple of days. They need her to help them keep warm. Are they on warm bedding now -- a towel or blanket, with room for mom?
If they are still making odd noises, you might want to call a vet, even if you have to call an emergency vet to get their reading on it.
Good luck to all of you,
Rhonda

or
The fact that it was a reply *to* you bringing up *my* name *yet again* in a thread that *yet again* I wasn't even posting in. You're getting more patheticly obsessed every day.

I was merely pointing out that Priscilla pounced upon Barry for bringing up my name when it was you, not he, who mentioned it.

Do you realise how pathetic and childish your public bickering looks to everyone in there? Grow up for heavens sake, we're here to discuss cats not how much you two hate each other, that is blindingly obvious.
If you really feel the need to argue about every post each of you makes why don't you take it to email? Or do you just want your little stages where you can embarrass yourselves?

I agree. I needed help with the kittens, and everyone is being so wonderful! Then I get to the end of this thread and its very sad that people are arguing like this. But thanks to everyone for your help!!

Do you realise how pathetic and childish your public > bickering looks to everyone in there? Hello, do you read this group? LOL Its nothing but a flamefest and snide side comments from those who don't have the balls to confront the person they have a problem with. Read the posts from today in the bathroom cat thread. This is normal here. Its a volatile group. Catty. It fits. :) Grow up for heavens sake,
> we're here to discuss cats not how much you two hate each other, > that is blindingly obvious. Who? Badassbarry and me? I don't even know him/her. If they want to join in the flamefest I WILL stand up for myself. Trying to ignore it hasn't changed anything in this group in two years. When "Mary" starts twisting words on a screen until they barely resemble the original encounter, and repeats ad nauseam, her agenda is very clear. Especially to have her sycophant that I have never even bothered to reply to other than the ONE time take offense and start humping my posts, which if you were reading had NOTHING to do with this little flamewar. That is the definition of post humping. If a few posts of this type bother you so much, don't read any of them. I'll post what I want.
> If you really feel the need to argue about every post each of > you makes why don't you take it to email? Uh, no. Wait, HELL no. I have no interest in carrying on with him here OR in email. But I will write back if I want to. Depends on the content. If its "blah blah ble blewey blewey ble bloo ble ble ble? blee blee Good luck and keep us posted,oh and blee blah blah bleeeuueey we wee" I'll ignore it. Deal? :)
Or do you just want
> your little stages where you can embarrass yourselves? That's just how you see it. Don't try to project that on to me.

I bet they could- I am still mystified as to what happened to the fried chicken- Dave got some and didn't like it so he threw it in the bin and meant to take the rubbish out but of course, forgot. The next morning the bin was overturned and we never did find any trace of the chicken. And they're indoor cats......

They're thankfully not that big through Sarrasine was looking at me this morning as if to say "I am not too sure about this new catfood....I wonder what you taste like?!"
I am probably safe until she works out how to operate a can opener- she is a criminal genius and if any cat could work it out....

" > > They're thankfully not that big through Sarrasine was looking at me > this morning as if to say "I am not too sure about this new > catfood....I wonder what you taste like?!" Heh! My cat Gnarly used to love to take a taste of me and sometimes visitors. What amazed me was the way she did it. Not during play. Not while overstimulated or being overtly aggravated by a human. She'd just saunter up every now and then, calm as you please, and bite. She walked up to a house guest who was sitting in the kitchen with me having coffee, nonchalantly put her paws on the chair and bit her on the fleshy back of her upper arm. Drew blood!

Lesley - 19 May 2005 16:35 GMT have a soft spot for smart and feisty cats!
You'd love Sarrasine then. At 3 months old she worked out how to open a bag of munchies and how to maximise the amount she could scoop out at any time (Wash paw first) since then she's demonstrated how smart she is on several occasions
And as for feisty! Her nickname is "Punk kitten". You can't tell her off, she stands her ground. Redunzel at least if she's done something she shouldn't runs for it, Sarrasine will stand there and glare as if to say "Yeah I did it! So what?! You wanna make something of it?!"

If she hasn't gone to them, it is possible they were stillborn or sickly. (is this her first litter? what is her age? she may not know how to care for kittens.)
Having strangers in the home will possibly prevent her going to them. Instinctively, she may protect the location of her "den" and not want to reveal it. If she smells your fear, same deal.
How can you be certain she didn't go out, if she had access? Are you 100% sure she had no access?
Think like a momma cat. You looked everywhere *you* thought of. Get down to her level and look around. Look UP and UNDER and IN. Her instinct might have prompted her to hide them. Think safe and warm and hidden. To a CAT, not a human.
Good luck.
