cat ate plastic--now what?

Wendell ate a piece of a plastic streamer that came off of one of his
toys. Usually he just chews on this type of thing but by the time I got
into his mouth he had eaten it. He has not had a bm since. (This was
Saturday night, and it's Monday at 5 a.m. now). At what point do I
start to worry? He is eating normally. He spends most of his time
sleeping anyway but woke up at 4 wanting to play (not weird for him).
He's been crying but does that a lot, too, for attention. The crying
stops when I play with him. So, he's been acting like himself. . . but
what to do about that plastic streamer inside him?

Go to the vet. Today. Don't assume it's harmless.

Call your vet and explain it as your have here.  Kami ate many long
stringy things and they always said to give her mega-doses of Petromalt
and see if it came out within three day of having been ingested.  Your
vet's opinion may differ, but a call is definitely worth your while.

No, I wouldn't.  I'm too old.  But if you want to post naked pix of
yourself and Kami and your milled ceramic teeth, I'll look at them and
offer candid feedback.

What is the story with that web page anyway?  What does SWYDM stand

"Brandy" is attempting to rack up points for something. If you clicked
on it, you contributed.

Of course, "Brandy" denies she is racking up points for anything.

Some of those chicks look like ringers, eh?  I thought so too.

I clicked on the link a number of times, actually, trying to navigate
the site without filling out any forms etc.  If Brandy gets points,
great.  I'm just curious about the site.  Is it the web adjunct of a
text-messaging system, for example?

The only time I get anything is "karma points" if someone happens to
join.  Clicking does nothing.  Joe's just being his usual head up mine
and his own a.s self.  I don't even need karma points since I'm a
premium member just because a friend of mine owns the site, hence my
helping him out having it in my sig.

I've explained this a number of times, but Joe likes his lies better, I
guess.

You are very fortunate.  I saw that one of the young ladies can't
afford a premium membership, so she is having to petition the more
generous patrons to buy her one.  Poor thing.

I shouldn't be giving you such a hard time, because your posts here
are completely reasonable, but that site... yikes!  I hope for your
sake that your friend doesn't decide to start selling fishnet
stockings and black lipstick.

I also notice you and Peacemaker follow the same path from
teranews/nntpserver to easynews.  You're using a different client
though.  I guess you're both on the W. Coast.

Heads-up Charlie...

Brandy has sock puppets. She has been caught with them in here before.
It does require a little more digging to find the evidence since she
started using the "X-No-Archive: yes", but then again that is why she
started using that header line... to make it more difficult.

Difficult yes, impossible no.  :)

Thanks, Charlie.  I've been in SoCal since February on assignment.  I'm
a traveling profit recovery auditor.  Ooo!  Exciting.  ;)  I get to go
home first week of June.  Ordinarily I'd be traveling two weeks out,
one week back, but that would have been really hard on Kami whether I
boarded her, had a friend feed her, or brought her, so I decided to
come out for the duration and bring her with me.  My bosses are cool.

If you were not, you would not be using that recognizable pseudo.

Yikers.  I used to live like that, not too long ago.  I was on and off
airplanes all the time.  Eventually I got fired for gross
incompetence, overbilling, theft of office supplies and shitty
attitude, but it took 'em awhile.  Now I work from home.  I buy my own
pens and keep my attitude to myself.

This week, as coincidence would have it, I am writing a marketing
screed about revenue leakage.  Companies must take a holistic
approach, with management at all levels promoting a culture of revenue
assurance.  Siloed processes must be redesigned and integrated to
promote transparency and accountability across the transaction cycle.
Etc. etc. etc.

Life on the road takes a toll, and Usenet is a good outlet for weird
impulses.  It's nice you have Kami with you.

Kami wants to stay.  I can tell.  She's a native SoCal cat (as am I)
and has been doing better since we've been here than she was back
home, save the asthma attack.

Revenue leakage ain't the word.  Gross incompetence in the case of
this client.  I mean, we were here just over a year ago and
identified over $2.5 million in overpaid sales tax, duplicate
payments, etc., covering a three year period.  At first the A/P
director was happy, but then he started to disclaim some of our
findings and tried to find ways not to pay us for our collections.

This trip, he said he didn't want the same team (it's my bosses.  He
seems to like me well enough), but the VP Tax said she only wanted
us to touch her tax stuff.  So one team did A/P, found virtually
nothing (about $15k), and I've been doing tax (by myself, it seems).
The A/P director seems not to have bothered to train his people
about spotting the tax exemptions the vendors should have given
after they were notified, so it's still a huge leak.  Make him look
like a moron, but will make the VP Tax look really good for having
recovered the funds (I'm looking at about $500k for one year).

As I've been doing this, it's such a shame I've identified a bunch
of overpayments and cost savings areas and I "can't" do anything
about it.  It's not my audit.  I'm just making copies so my bosses
can go over A/P's head and prove what a dick he is to the
Controller.

Needless to say, your "screed" has merit, but how do you battle a
corporate culture that seems to allow management to have their
little fiefdoms and not communicate with other areas in order to
solve the issues?  I have never even seen this A/P director have
meeting with his own people.  This is one of the more poorly managed
organizations I've worked in be it as a consultant or an employee,
and the scary thing is it's publicly owned!

Damn. This is really weird. When I paste the whole "From"
header including the "Brxxxx Alxxxxxxx" name anywhere in
the post, PGP does some strange encryption to the message.
It's like there's some backdoor to PGP that's triggered with
Brandy's full name.
Ok, Brandy, admit it! You're really working for the NSA,. Aren't
you? :)

OOPS!
Last minute discovery......When I type "Brandy Alexandre" there
seems to be no problem. But if I paste it from the headers, things
go berserk.
Are you doing anything unusual to your headers when you post?
Particularly the "From" line.
Anyway....that's why the previous post was encrypted.
Just not sure who it was encrypted to.

So what did you actually write?  The only thing I can think of is I
may have a hard space in it (alt+0160), but that shouldn't cause any
problems

Beats me.

Your a.s has been reamed out enough that your head actually would fit in
there.

Sure sure.

And you help yourself out some with this in the link as well
"?refer=BrandyAlx".

If it was to just help out your "friend" you wouldn't bother with the
referral addition to the link.

Unfortunately, your explanations don't cut da mustard and you always end
up sticking your foot in your mouth... or perhaps in your case up yer a.s.

What would you do if your kid swallowed a dime?

A) Ask about it on a newsgroup.

  -or-

B) Seek immediate medical attention.

Hint: A is the wrong answer.

Correct course of action:

-Seek out a vet immediately.

-Check all his other toys to ensure nothing else is going to come off
and be ingested.
