The Poet - 12 Apr 2005 19:54 GMT
A howling clowder
eating chowder
waits by my door

for more.

They empty each bucket
till I finally say f**k it.
Is this all I am good for.

Greedy slurping miserable horde,
that uses me because they're bored.
yellowing my lawn - they know I'm just their pawn.

Meowing at me their subtle curse:
"Feed us feed us feed us" and worse..

Where's that site that makes a Cat Purse?

"Hip Hop" and "Rap" are not necessarily crap.

Yea, there is only a 99.7% chance that "Hip Hop" and "Rap" songs are
crap!

Don't knock rap. I spent most of the 80's and 90's as a nightclub DJ
working in black clubs, so I've bought and listened to rap from it's
conception and watched all the changes it's gone through along the way.
Granted, a lot of the stuff coming out now is garbage AFAIC, but through
the history of this type of music, there has been a lot of really good
stuff, albeit a lot of it has also been political and controversial
(which sometimes resulted in my having to fight with club owners who
wanted to censor some of the music I played.)  Dismissing a whole genre
of music as "bad" is not that different from dismissing a group of
people because of race. There's good and bad in both.

What is it with you? Posting OT after hounding Lori not to?
It would make life a lot easier on you if you would consider
removing your head from your a.s.

I did no such thing and I never told her not to post OT. My issue was
with the *flood* of off topic and incessant postings, most of which she
(and you) were responsible for. An occasional OT post or flame war is
common for this group, but when the sheer numbers ultimately inhibit
posts asking for help, it becomes an issue. You apparently also need to
be reminded that I did not start this OT discussion and marked it as
such as a courtesy to others.

You look like you are from Santa Monica CA. Are you?
Libby - 14 Apr 2005 18:56 GMT
No, I'm from <<Location Withheld For Security Purposes>>. (hee hee)

Don't know where you see Santa Monica - although I wouldn't mind a nice
change! I saw another post of yours where you followed the "code" or
whatever..Is there a website where you can put in all the code and see
where the email came from?

What I've heard about that is that when you send an email, it bounces
along a relay system that can take it to Australia and back. It just
follows best connection from junction to junction. The email system was
originally set up between universities to communicate..As it grew
larger, it followed the same pattern of stations and relay stations.

I was just pulling your leg. Your IP (which shows in Google postings) does
resolve to CA.

I'm seeing somewhere closer to New York City.

http://www.geobytes.com/IpLocator.htm?GetLocation will give you
information, but it's not always accurate. It's not an exact science as
different ISPs are set up differently  My IP address shows the correct
state, but not the correct city. When I used Worldnet, it didn't even
resolve to the correct state. It's the NNTP Posting Host that you look
for in the headers.

Well, you'd probably hate to have me for a mother. I recall ejecting a
tape from the car tape deck once and flinging it out the window on
I-35, followed by howls from the 6th-grade-girls in the back seat to
whom the tape belonged. Some roadside crew somewhere probably wondered
why a perfectly good 2LiveCrew tape was out in the grass. It wasn't
even the language as much as the derogatory lyrics about women. But
point taken there are good and bad.

You are not EVEN old enough to be Megan's mother! She was
working clubs in the 1980s so she is close to your age.

I have just recently begun to enjoy some rap and hiphop--none of
the songs I like have hateful lyrics. I absolutely loathe Eminem. The fact
that Megan sees aversion to rap and hiphop as a racist thing tells you
how out of touch she is. It's half milky-skinned pissed off white boys
now. Rap is OLD. It began in the late 1970s.

That's not what I said, but leave it to you to fail to comprehend and
subsequently misrepresent what someone says.
I said "Dismissing a whole genre of music as "bad" is not that different

That's entirely different.
