Outdoor house for indoor cat?

 Hi All,

Years ago,  maybe 10,  there was a product that one of our neighbors
had.  It was basicly a screenhouse for cats.   It was a small version
of a screen house and you could put it outside on your patio or deck
and put your cat in it,  under close supervision of course.  We have an
indoor cat and in the summer we would like to be able to put him in a
safe area where we can watch him.  Has anyone seen anything like this
anywhere,  and if so where can I get it?  Or maybe something similar.

Thank you to all who reply,

You could build something. For example, I built an enclosure using
mesh fence material from "friendly fence" and used my deck posts to
attach it to. Then I aquired a panel with a pet flap door that fits
in the sliding glass door that goes out under the deck. The
ultimate is to put the friendly fence, or another product, cat-
fence-in directly on your own fenced in property.

Then, there's a much smaller version of outdoor containment:

If you have that option it is certainly the way to go. Although, the
portability of the playpen is nice too.

I agree that fresh air is a good thing, but.

Hopefully whatever you build or buy does not become a MacDonalds
for some big slobbery-jaws dog(s).

I'm not suggesting it necessarily will, but assessing the risk
might be difficult. The flaw might not be noticed until it's too
late.

In real-life, something like that would need testing. Put a big
juicy steak on the inside and a very big hungry dog on the
outside, and see how long it takes him to break through. That
might sound silly, but it's your cat's life at steak [pun].

Good luck.

It really is. I just ordered one of the playpens. For $300 it is a steal. I
just hope it is as easy as they say to break down. I want to keep it nice
and clean and so will take it down after every use.

Yeah, you seem to have more time on your hands than most normal people.

Yes, I do. It doesn't suck. :)
