As some may remember, Hodge is a cat of unknown origins who has some
behavioural difficulties (getting defensive/aggressive and biting for no
particular reason; he seems to have a thing against legs). One thing he
does, and he did it tonight, is he rears on his hind legs like a horse,
sometimes jumps up and down on his two legs (like a boxer -- it's pretty
funny looking), then springs straight up and down like a startled
gazelle. He seems startled by too much walking around on my part (I
would love to know what whoever had him before -- the ones who abandoned
him, no doubt) did to make him so defensive-aggressive. Anyway, I've
never seen a cat do this before, and wondered if anyone else had.

(Now he's in my bed, battling his toy mouse. I can't tell you how many
times I've gone to sleep to wake up with a bed full of toys.)

FYI, if you're curious what the little booger looks like, here he is,
down to 13 lbs. from 17(!!!).

Boy, I don't know, but I'd sure love to see it.

I know! I wish I had video. It's incredible. He also did it once during
a thunderstorm. Rearing cat, front paws waving, lightning flashing. The
horror movie potential!

He is a goodlooking pussykitty.  When he bounces up and down like
that, he is being playful -- sometimes they jump sideways.  Princess
used to do cartwheels (when she was young).    They love legs -- want
to catch them.  Remember this :  cats don't look up and down -- they
see at their own level.....TuTu hides under the bedspread at bedtime
then she jumps out at me when I come in -- then runs like the wind
into the other room (Laughing, I'm sure).

I just wanted to add that, after I took my pen away from him tonight and
he started playing with his tail as an alternative (unlike my previous
cat, this one has a real thing for chasing, biting, and otherwise
harassing his own appendage), he actually did a series of head-first
forward somersaults in his excitement. I really wish I had THAT on tape.
Man. Incredible.
