Sapphire is gone

Sapphire seemed to be doing well her first day in ICU with the oncologist
but he called this afternoon to say she was having many problems.  I rushed
over to spend time with her before we had to release her from her little
body that was failing her.

Life can be very sad sometimes.  I've looked through the photo albums where
her pictures are found through-out as part of a family from the day I found
her in 1990, a declawed, not full grown yet, stray.  A week after I found
her my husband told me that she was declawed which I thought was so awful
that I went to the clubhouse where my son had hung her picture with our
phone number and I took the picture down.  That was how she became mine.

Now the world seems to have lost some of its sparkle...

I'm sorry that this happened, esp. after getting somewhat hopeful for a
bit...

I'm so so sorry. I completely understand. I'm crying tears for you, tears
for me. I was just so sad today missing Grant so much and it is just like
you say, "the world has lost some of its sparkle". Yet it is amazing how
much such a little creature can bring in, each in their own way. I know that
we will both be glad one day that we had them at all, but right now it just
doesn't seem fair. ((((hugs)))) Karen

You certainly enriched her life and it sounds like she
reciprocated.....you are better off having known her.....

No, life isn't just sad sometimes, it sucks!  I'm so sorry.  I am also
crying (wailing, actually) now ... for  you, for me,
for Elvis, for my husband, for Grant, for all of us who have to live in this
shitty world. (sorry but that's how I feel)....   I have seen the "rise up
slowly angel, it's hard to let you go" way too many times in the
last few weeks.  I pray that they are at the Bridge waiting for us..... I
grieve with you.
Love, Carol

I'm sorry to hear that. It certainly seems like you did everything you
possibly could have done to help her.

>Now the world seems to have lost some of its sparkle...

It does. I know exactly what you mean.

I am so sorry to hear that Sapphire is gone. It sounds like you did
everything for her that a human could do.

How good that you could be with her in the end. She sounded like a
special little girl.

Thanks for taking great care of her for so many years.

Dearest Barb,
I'm so very sorry for your loss. Losing a furbaby is like losing a part of
your soul. I lost my Sam 14 months ago and there's still an empty place in
my heart. Take comfort in the fact that you gave her a wonderful life and
that you did everything in your power to help her get well. She's moved on
but her mark is left forever on the world. Purrs for Sapphire on her
journey to the Bridge.
Luv,
Lynn

I'm so sorry.  Find comfort in knowing she had a peaceful end, and she
knew that you loved her.

hugs,

It's been comforting reading all of the posts about Sapphire.  It's so fine
to have a group like this where you know everyone understands about the loss
of a pet.

I am still a wreck.  Just wish I could have her back,  nice and healthy.
Hope her spirit is around me.  Maybe we really do all get back together
again some day!

I too am really sorry to hear about Sapphire.

Selfishly I've been wrapped up in my own woes and worries with my cat but I
do know what you are going through and my heart goes out to you.

Sapphire was a very lucky cat to have such a loving mum and she could not
have asked for more.

>Hope her spirit is around me.  Maybe we really do all get back together
>again some day!

About 9 years ago, my first sheltie died. She was 14, blind, half
deaf, and she had arthritis. So, my last memories of her were as an
elderly dog. I had a hard time remembering her as she had been
younger.

A couple years after she died, I had a wonderful dream. I was back in
Iowa, walking down the driveway of the farm where I lived for 4 years
(when we got Seusy). It seemed that in my dream, I had gone back in
time. So, I was my adult self walking down the driveway and viewing my
younger self and Seusy as a 2 year old. My younger self didn't
recognize me, but agreed to let me stay and play with the dog for the
afternoon. So, I was able to spend time with Seusy as a healthy dog,
running, chasing balls, and being herself in her prime.

I still cry when I think of that dream, but they are tears of joy,
because I was so happy to remember her as a young dog on that farm.

And when I visualize Rainbow Bridge, I see the farm in Iowa. They huge
grassy lawn, the creek running through it, the woods and corn fields
off to the side, and the big Walnut trees that Seusy would race
around. That farm was her idea of heaven.

I know it is hard right now, but those memories will come back to you.
You may not be able to see her healthy in the physical sense, but you
can see that way in your memories.

I'm sorry to hear that it did not work out. She was in the right place
to be treated and you can be sure they did their best there.

You did your best though in adopting SAPPHIRE and giving her a life.

If she looked back at you as she left, I'm sure she would have thanked
you for everything you did.
