Cat Forum / Health and Behavior / March 2005Bandit Update
I just got back from the vet. Bandit is going to need surgery in the morning to remove the second burn. It is very yellow (from the eschar) and not granulating like it should, so it has to come off before it too becomes gangrenous. I talked to the vet further about what caused the burn and she said they had just started using heating "bags" that were recommended to them by NW Animal Surgery (which is why she was burned both on her stomach and her back with the burn on the back not as deep since she was laying on her stomach and the bag was just resting on her back). They have now thrown all of those out and are using only the water-filled thermal blankets. Sorry to hear that & good job you didn't take my thoughts on the burn as read. Lucky I am not a vet!
