Tom,
I'm sorry for your loss & it is obvious that you truly loved your little
furface. It just isn't fair. :'-( So far (after the initial 3 times of sub-Q
fluids) Toma is drinking water & eating (even though she is eating very
small amounts of food). I give her whatever she wants to eat - I'm just
thrilled when she does eat. I treasure every moment with her & I couldn't
love her more than I do now. She is my furry little soul mate. I sure do
agree on what you were saying about having a good quality of life - when I
can see that Toma's quality of life is gone - I hope that I can do what you
did. Thanks for your help & understanding. The sites you sent have helped,
too.

I took Furface to the vet 2 days before he died. She suggested
putting him to sleep ( she was crying when she suggested it), but I
just couldn't. I brought him back home and put him on his little
pallet on the foot of my bed where he always slept. I positioned him
where he could see out the window, covered him with a blanket (my gf
insisted), gave him water with a syringe and gave him a lot of
caresses until the end.
He was 6 months old and feral when I "trapped" him inside my
apartment. When I let him outside again, he was gone for 2 days but
came back. And kept coming back foralmost 14-1/2 years. I didn't
know it could hurt so much to lose a pet. He is buried at the edge of
my patio, near the spot where he liked to sit in one of my chairs and
survey his domain.
Keep up the sub-Q's and any other meds the vet recommends. The thing
about CRF is you never know if you have 6 months or 6 years. I hope
you and Toma have many more happy years together.
Tom
