I'm stumped. I adopted a five year old cat a nine days ago. In all
the time he's been here I've found a very small amount of poop in his
litter box once. Since then nothing.
Four days after getting him I took him to the vet for a general
checkup. At that time it had been three poopless days. I mentioned it
to the vet who said he did not feel constipated. He told me to look
around to see if he had done it someplace other than the box.
I have searched this place high and low. It's a pretty small place.
All closet doors are always closed and there aren't very many hidden
areas. I can't find anything.
I have been giving him hairball medicine and, at vets suggestion,
canned pumpkin with his food. Nothing..........
The cat seems perfectly fine. Active, playful, eats, drinks and pees.
Has anyone else every had a poopless pussy?
Do you have a dog? My neighbor adopted two cats and after a week,
wondered why there was never any poop in the litter box. Then one day
she noticed her dog had kitty litter on his lips.
Ewwwwwww, I know, but dogs do gross things like that.

First of all, make sure the cat's pan is in a low traffic area where
the cat feels safe. Then make sure the cat knows where it is -- with easy
access.
Yes, I had this happen once and I took her to TED and insisted on an
enema. The Vet felt her tummy and thought it felt normal, but I insisted.
Later he told me she had a very large BM which surprised him. Now I must
ell you she was old and ill.
Good luck . MLBt

Puma did that =/ We were in an apartment and I never was able to figure out
how to keep him out of the litterbox. Oscar didn't care for hooded
litterboxes.

hahahaha! I have seen this, but did not think of it in this
connection. Good thinking!

No dog and no poop. If nothing happens today I'm taking him to the vet.

Good plan. Maybe you should do what Karen (I think?) said
and insist on an enema. It cannot hurt and could put your
mind at ease. You're very smart to be watchful of this.

Keep in mind, if your kitty isn't eating much, there won't be much output...

I thought of that. He actually wasn't eating much so I decided to get
him to eat by tempting him with some canned cat food which he seems to
like.
Besides there is a difference between "not much" output and NO output.
What I can't understand is why he seems to be so fine otherwise. If he
was an outdoor cat I never would have suspected a thing.
I spent the last hour on the floor with a flashlight trying to find a
week's worth of poop but it just isn't there.

I just cracked up at that image...a week's worth of poop!! HA!
Hopefully, you'd smell it!

Ask your Vet if a little mineral oil would be appropriate. MLB

If he is healthy and happy that poop is somewhere. If it continues
be sure to take him back to the vet as it could kill him.

My parents were once keeping a cat for my brother while he was in the
hospital. After a few days of no poop they took him (the cat) to the
vet. Nope, cat felt just fine. A couple of days after that the
cleaning lady was doing her thing and my mother hears "oh isn't that
cute, he likes going into the fireplace." Sure enough. Remember to
clean out the ashes after that last fire of the season.

Well, yesterday I moved his litter box to someplace quieter and this
morning there is was - a little present for me! It was about a day's
worth so who knows where the rest is. Some day perhaps I'll find it
but right now I'm VERY relieved (no pun intended).

Yippee! Bet you were never so glad to see poop. Hope the
rest is somewhere relatively harmless. :)

I know that feeling. When Jay Jay went over 2 days without poop, I was
getting really worried. And I was sick at the time too. I decided I
would have to write down everything and send somebody to the vet with
my cat since he wasn't going, and I wasn't going anyway. I was never
so happy to smell something stinky (he doesn't cover).
