I have been sick with the regular flu all week, and have been following the
news stories about avian flu with some interest. Tonight I read for the
first time that cats can become infected!
What would happen to a cat that was infected? Would there be a vaccine
developed for cats?
I'm really worried, now...

Keep your cat inside where it can't contact birds and you won't have to
worry.

He's not being a troll he's being sensible. The only way that cats can
contract this is coming in direct contact with an infected bird. It's only
common sense............geeezzzzzzzz

I guess you didn't google. Do you know anything about the Avian flu? Have
you been reading about it? Did you read it is being passed from cat to cat?
Do you realize it is not "birds" but chickens and ducks? Do you realize
people are getting it from eating infected birds? Do you know where your
pet food comes from?
Geesh.

Do you realize pet foods are *cooked*? Do you realize cooking kills the
virus? Do you realize you're an a.shole?

He's been a regular poster on this ng for years, I don't think he can
be defined as a troll.

Where exactly did you read that? To my knowledge, it's birds, pigs, and
humans that make up the triangle that passes flu back and forth, with
ferrets being able to catch it but not spread it. Never heard of influenza
in cats.
