Last night, I scrubbed out the kitties litter boxes. While I was doing
this, Elwood was watching very closely, ready to make his move. When I
set the first one down, he hopped in there before Jake knew what was
happening, and took a big ol' dump!
Since then, he has been back to his old self, very wild and playful,
and he even ate good this morning!
It seemed like before, Jake used the box first, and he was in charge.
He would play with me, while Elwood would sit back and watch, almost
like he wasn't aloud or something. Well, no more! He is back to being
the wild ball o' fur, and back to challenging Jake for the boss role
it seems.
I could be wrong about this, but is this how they figure out who is in
charge?

It is probably, in the sense that any material leaving the cat's scent
can be used to "mark" his territory.
