Normal. Herrie - also a tuxedo - has them in the exact same place. Normal
even if not a tuxedo.

Thank you, Cathy. She needs one more health problem like she needs
a bigger appetite!

Biskit has that. But I'd also noticed when she was shaved for surgery
that every where her fur is black, the skin is black. The areas where
the fur is yellow, the skin is pink. I just figured those spots on that
sparse part is where the fur would be black. Guess not, since Tuxes
have them too.
When it gets warm, I'm going to get her a lion cut or at least get her
belly and chest shaved. She has long, fine, wispy,fly-away fur that
matts so easy. She's really going to look weird with spotted skin.

Good to know. They sure look weird. And FWIW they are not on
any of her white areas.

Sherry! I know things get dull sometimes but cat shaving? ;)

Oh man. We *have* to do something. Her fur is long and real wispy. It
tangles so bad. I think she's really inept at self-grooming -- I think
she creates the matts herself trying to lick the part between the two
front legs. She had one bigger than a half dollar that I spent two days
getting out. Now she's got another one started. I have some clippers.
If I can get DH To hold her down, it might be enough to shave from the
front legs to about halfway down her belly. She'd look really weird
with a lion cut.

It's fairly common - the "lion cut" Sherry mentioned - for long-haired cats
who mat like crazy in the summer.

I have a page about lion cuts with pics here:

The orange cat in the pics actually *looks* like a lion! The cut really
looks good on him.
It also looks like the cat isn't shaved really close, unless the pic
was taken after it had grown out a bit. Bikkie's always on the
windowsill--like Garfield, she gets "trapped in a sunbeam". I wonder if
she'd sunburn.

I might worry about them getting nicked when playing with other
cats. I have heard that cats have very thin skin. The orange cat
does look cool. Can you imagine how weird that would feel?
Probably like walking around with a winter scarf on but
otherwise nekkid!

She'll sunbun if she's shaved too close, but with a normal lion cut,
she shouldn't. If you get one for her, you can request a #10 blade
(1/2 inch, IIRC), or a #5 (3/4 inch IIRC) - but IMO, cuts done with a
#5 look choppy and you don't get your money's worth. The pic of the
grey cat Megan posted is a good example of a lion cut done with a #10
blade- short cut, very even with a pretty mane, feet and tail. That's
how it is *supposed* to look. I used to shavre white cats all the time
and never got complaints about sunburns, FWIW.
You can always try one, and if you or she doesn't like it, don't do it
again. A good one will last 6 months, so they are great for the
apring/summer.

Oh ... I saw a picture of a cat like this, looking really pissed off, and it
was billed as a mistake where the owner had asked for a "line cut" and gotten
a lion cut ... you mean this is real?

I noticed just a few days ago (Oscar doesn't let me play with her paws much)
that for the most part, Oscar's pads are grey, but where the fur around them
is peach-colored, her pads are pink. She actually has a paw where some pads
are pink, and some grey!
