Greetings:

I'm sorry to announce that Louie was put to sleep at approximately
10:00 AM this morning. All week he was having a terrible time with
seizures and fainting spells. I even rushed him to the emergency clinic
at midnight on Tuesday. He tried two different kinds of heart medicine,
but he wasn't getting any better. This AM he had very labored breathing
that was not remedied with extra oxygen. After consulting with several
vets, it was determined that nothing else could be done for him. I
struggled tremendously with whether or not to be with him when he was
put to sleep, but ultimately decided that I couldn't handle that. My
vet said Louie was so out of it that he wouldn't even know if I was
there, anyway.

I'm very sad to lose him, but this has been a terrible week, and I
didn't want him to suffer. Because this is a congenital problem, there
was no way it could have been prevented, and we did all we could. Louie
had a lot of problems throughout his life, and probably lived much
longer than he was ever meant to. I will miss him, but I'm glad I knew
him.

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and concerns.

Best, Amy

Sincere condolences.  When you feel ready, there are lots of lonely
kitties who could use your love.   MLB

Greetings:

Thanks very much for your condolences. I would love to get another
kitten, but I have two other kitties at home who have been feeling
pretty neglected through all of this. I'm going to concentrate on them
at the moment. They seem pretty happy Louie is gone, actually.
Especially Ti, my little torti, who never liked Louie and picked on him
terribly, though Louie easily outweighed her by at least 10 pounds.
Louie rarely went after her, even though she used to hiss him and hit
him on the head for no reason. I think she's pretty glad at this turn
of events.

Best, Amy

You gave him the best life any cat could hope for. No regrets.

Greetings:

Thanks so much to everyone for your kind words, I really appreciate it!
If I had a scanner, I'd post a photo of Louie. But since I don't, just
think of a huge (20 pound) orange and white guy with big amber eyes and
a dumb but sweet expression, and you've got him!

LOL!  How funny.  I'm glad it made you laugh.  Your description of him
seemed to fit it.  :)

I'm sorry, Amy. It's so hard to let them go.

You did so much for him, and I'm sure he knew it. I wish they just had
longer on this earth.

Take care,

Rhonda

Think of him on the streets - he'd have passed a long time ago without
having enriched anyone's lives.

Tens of thousands of cats.. one cat at a time.

I'm so sorry for you. Kitties seem so strong, but they're delicate
little creatures. It's so wonderful when we take them into our homes
and give them happy lives. There's lots of very good karma there.

Best wishes for your healing.
