Bandit *HATES* the Clavamix. She fights it so badly I'm afraid of hurting
her when we try to force it down her. I have no trouble pilling a cat, but
I have never had to give medicine in a dropper before. Bandit jerks her
head right when you start to squeeze the dropper - then she drools what
little medicine gets in her mouth. DH, Bandit and I all end up wearing more
Clavimix than when gets down her throat.
Any suggestions?

Since you are ok pilling a cat, you can go to the vet in the morning and
get the pill form of Clavamox and use that instead.

"Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one
elementary truth the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and
splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then
providence moves too. A whole stream of events issues from the decision,
raising in one's favor all manner of unforeseen incidents, meetings and
material assistance, which no man could have dreamt would have come his
way."

Oh boy, we had such a hard time with that too. We had to give it to
kittens with respiratory infections.
Maybe call the vet tomorrow and see if it comes in pill form, since your
cat is good with pills. If it's got to be the liquid, can you try mixing
it with tuna, or something pungent?
What I finally did with the kittens was wrap them in a towel. I had it
draped over their heads like a hood and tried to hold it closed under
their chins (and avoid the flailing front paws.) We really had to get a
good hold on them, but they started holding more still after a few
times. They still hated it but knew it was inevitable. Finally, I got
them eating it in wet food, I think it was baby food, and then we were
all off the hook...

I had to do Jay Jay last week. I put him in chair, and my nephew
wrapped a towel around him so that only his head was out, and he could
not phsyically moved anyway (he looked like a pissed off eskimo).
I opened his mouth and shoved as much as I could in. Once, I got the
whole amount in on one shot. Other times, I had to do it again. And
sometimes he drooled some of it back out.
I also gave him chicken afterward, partly to reward him, and partly to
get him to eat and take the rest of the medicine down with it.

Depending on the severity of the illness and your bank account, if all
else fails you can board your pet at the vet's and let them administer
the medicine every day. When giving the medicine, however, there are a
couple of things you might want to try. You can mix the dose with tuna
water, and aim for the very back of the throat through the corner of the
mouth. The less that gets on the tongue the better. Have a friend help
hold the cat, and do it quickly to minimize the trauma. See if the vet
can prescribe a better tasting but similar medicine if it becomes
impossible, or a pill. Good luck!

No, just memories. I had to give Oscar liquid medicine when I first got her
at 8 weeks. Amazing how strong a kitten can be!

Call the vet. Clavamox comes as a pill as well.
As for droppers, I hate them. I never can get everything in the
dropper into the cat's mouth without several trys. I use a syringe
instead ( without a needle of course) and go in the side of the
mouth.
