Mike Z. Helm - 08 Mar 2005 00:50 GMT I just noticed one of kitty's eyes looks milky. Her other eye looks normal.
She seems to be acting normal - any ideas what this could be?

Ya' think it can wait 'til tomorrow?

There have been several threads here in the last few weeks referring to eye problems that were correctable in the first day or two, but not so thereafter. I'm not a vet, but I am a concerned cat owner, and if my cat had this problem, I would call an emergency clinic if my regular vet were closed for the night. Better safe than sorry.

She's about 8 months - I rescued her from the parking lot at work last August (in Arizona, where and when temps of 115 are not uncommon).
The vet estimated she was 5-6 weeks old and then we noticed she had been hit with a pellet gun. Fortunately, it had barely broken the skin - just enough for it to stick in her fur.
I just added this picture to my page

nothing else new, but in case you missed it when I posted before, there are a few other pics:

I can't really see the "film" in the picture, but if it is a somewhat opaque looking haze covering the entire eye, it may be kitty herpes in her eye. Get her to the vet as soon as it is practical.
How long has she had the "film"?

I was dead serious when I told Monique I didn't consider this an emergency, just as I wouldn't rush myself to the ER if the same thing happened to one of my eyes.
I missed other posts that she said were about eye problems that could have been corrected within a day or 2, but ended up causing permanent damage.
I would think that if the symptoms matched, she would have said so. I was hoping someone had seen something like this before and could shed some light on the possible cause (and I realize it would only be a possible cause - I don't expect a 100% accurate diagnosis posting to a newsgroup)
And FWIW, it's definitely not more than 24 hours old, probably closer to 12-15.
She's acting normal, she isn't in any pain, she can see out of both eyes. One eye just seems sort of milky or murkier than the other. Her vision might be affected, but she certainly isn't blind.
I don't recall specifically, but I think I've seen the same symptoms in dogs before, although IIRC, usually older dogs.

I'll readily admit that when it comes to myself and my loved ones, I'd rather see a doctor unnecessarily than find out afterwards that I didn't go when I should have.
It seems like whenever I decided to "wait and see," I've later been told that if I'd had the matter addressed promptly, it could have been fixed. Then again, whenever I do see the doctor right away, I'm mostly told to quitcherbitchin =P

usenet is a funny place, and I was still in a certain mindset after someone claimed Ted Kennedy was my hero because I dared to say something critical of Bush's policies in another group.
I think the only time I've ever even mentioned Ted Kennedy on usenet before is to point out to some lunatic that he's fairly hypocritical for going on about Laura Bush murdering her boyfriend while ignoring Chappaquiddick. (Apparently, long before Laura Bush took Bush as her last name, there was a car accident. There was no indication that Laura was drunk, but she did apparently run a stop sign. Someone is upset that she isn't rotting in jail for it right now.)

She looks solid gray when she is older. Gorgeous girl. "Yet another picture of Kitty" is clearly Kitty Porn. :) My goodness what a glamour girl. Get her to the vet tomorrow, okay? See about her eye. Let us know, too. I hope it is trivial and easily treated.

I keep my porn out of sight like all you other decent people.
Actually, I have no idea what you meant by that remark.

If Mary's definition is the same as mine, then here's an example of Oscar in some kitty porn:

In fact, my original caption for this shot was "Porn Star Oscar," but I didn't know if my audience, which includes my family, would be amused or offended.
