Cat vomitting blood

Hi, everyone..

My cat has been vomitting blood the last two days...

I took him to the vet..She just told me to give him glucose...because she
was not eating...

I think it's more serious than that. He was given Ibubrofen 3...more than
the normal dosage for cats...please advice.

My cat was vomiting blood. The vet did a whole work up, x-rays, examination
and eventually an ultra sound plus changing her medication for hyperthyroid
to a different brand. Must have been the medication because she was fine a
day later. Vomiting blood can be an ominous sign, more than just a shot of
glucose.

My cat only vomited a little blood. I got him in right away and a GI series
showed a large (LARGE) amount of hair in his stomach. After trying for a
week to get it to pass with laxatone (some did) we decided she should just
go in and get it. Turns out he had *advanced* lymphoma of the stomach. NO
symptoms until he started vomiting. I cannot BELIEVE this vet just offered
some damn glucose. Makes me angry. I hope the OP has called another vet by
now.

I don't know, but maybe most vets just wait for you to tell how much
you are willing to spend. Then again, I have been surprised by how
apparently unintelligent some doctors are.

If it's been two days, your cat probably needs a transfusion by
now. Ibuprofin is just as damaging to the stomach lining as aspirin
is. You need a new vet. I hope you've gotten to one by now. If you
haven't, just have a look at your cats gums and tongue, and see if
they are gray. If there is no pink, there is anemia and too much
blood loss.

Who gave your cat ibuprofen, the vet? How much did he ingest?

Follow this closely: Vomiting blood after ingesting ibuprofen (or any
NSAID) is sign of gastric ulceration or possibly perforation. There is no
antidote for cats - although charcoal might help.

Since I don't know how much he ingested and based on the symptoms you've
described, the only advice I can give you is:

TAKE YOUR CAT TO AN EMERGENCY CLINIC ***NOW** - *****RIGHT NOW*****

- he is in *very* serious danger of acute renal failure.

Please do not delay for an instant.
