Well, it's been a bit over a month sincy Mingy was hospitalized
amd found to have struvite crystals.  Since then, I have been
trying to get him to eat wet food, and I have not been too
successful.  In fact, I have been close to despair about that and
his not eating much in general since then.  (The day before
yesterday, I even gave him a bowl of his old kibbles to see
whether he would eat a reasonable amount, but he didn't.)  But I
have persevered, in part, because he really seems to like the
Wellness Chicken.  Last week, someone suggested Merrick, and I
looked at that again (the flavors seem so human-oriented!) and
bought some cans of the nonseafoody varieties.  It seemed like a
better texture for Mingy.  I offered him a bit of it and he walked
away.  But since then I have been mixing some into the Wellness
and adding some water too to make it easier for him to lap up.
Last night he ate his usual too-small amount, but then he went
back and ate some more a little while later.  This morning he
seemed to be begging for some food, so I just gave him a larger
amount of this combo, which he is attacking eagerly.  I just hope
he can begin to consume enough of it so he will get most of his
calories from wet food.

When Princess (RB16) was alive, I gave her raw liver, heart and kidney as
an occasional meal.  She loved it.  I did this for a number of years until
the Vet told me to cook it.  She did not care much for the cooked meat.
TuTu would not touch raw liver.

But if the cat is not eating, I think this might be worth a try.  Just a
thought -- what do you think?   MLB

Sheesh! I forgot to mention trying Mixit from Hill's.  Its a gravy enhancer
that you can pour over his dry food to acclimate him to eating moist food.

Why would a picky cat be any more inclined to accept this than any
other smell/taste?  We shall see!  Thanks!
