Is there a real vet in this group?

Just wondering if there was a real pet vet
in here.. or.. are you all just playing doctor?

And as far as *this* group goes... I think
some of you are pretty cool.. but most of
you are arrogant f.cks.  The name of this
froup is called news:alt.pets.cats.health+behav
So basically, you want the cat to 'not be'
*malicious*.

One final thing... I suggest one of you cat
computer wizzizs makes up a new froup,
something along the lines of:
news:alt.pets.cats.grief   FFS!

I come in here to strictly read about
cats and their health problems.. and
possibly get real advise on my cats from
a qualified vet.. not something like Mary.
She isn't a vet.. she is a troll.. like Elvisrocks
is a murderer.  Comeon.. two deaths just
days apart?  one cat and one husband?
Damn.. If that happened here.. there would
be a OJ Simpson type of trial.

It would have been even funnier if you'd have called most of us "arrogant
ducks".

(a little qwerty humor there - very little - sorry)

Just like any other usenet group, there are trolls and other types of
useless personalities here.  However, I'm sorry for you if you honestly
believe that vets have the last word on health when it comes to cats or
any other animals, for that matter.  Groups such as this are great
because of personal experiences of the posters, which means you will
probably get more accurate and useful information here than if only
vets were answering the questions.

I, personally, have never met a vet, doctor or other "professional" who
knows everything about everything.  They all have limits on their
knowledge and experience.  And, unfortunately, they often treat their
clients and patients with a "cover my a.s" attitude, which often means
you get textbook remedies rather than creative ones.

I've found more useful information on just about *anything* I've
researched from other people in similar situations than I ever have
from the so-called experts in that particular area.  Some folks can't
think out of the box to save their life....sounds like you're one of
them.

Amen to that.  I have a dog that is dying because of a misdiagnosis by
a vet - one that has proven to be useless on more than one occassion
(hindsight is always 20/20!).  Just like any professional, there are
good vets and bad vets - you need to be really, really careful about
whom you choose to care for your pet.

Groups such as this are great

Especially since most vets aren't feline specialists.

couldn't agree more!

You have to educate yourself, nowdays.  It's the only way you will get
proper treatment for anything.

And you are one of the useless personalities, Lynnie. You actually
lied to my ISP--and worse, may have done something that is illegal
in the state of Oregon. Just because your tightassed would-be
"socialist" control freak personality cannot bear the thought that
someone you do not like may post in a free and unmoderated

***Mary,

Why, oh why, can't you conduct yourself in a pleasant way?!
You simply cannot staaaand it that you've struck out again. You never behave
yourself in a civil mannor, unless, that is, your 'sucking up' to a poor
innocent new-comer that innocently doesn't know of your reputation of being
very rude regularly, and your (often) reeeally ugly ways of treating people.

Why, just because 'L' has a high IQ, is very populur, and she always
conducts herself, and treats others, with respect, class and wit, doesn't
mean that you can't learn something from her. Sheesh.

Bwahahahaha!!!! I like this, I really do. Why I bet Lynnie's IQ is almost
as high as yours. Still thinking about breeding your cat since he is so
special and all and no cats can measure up to him? That is the entire
source of my problem with you. To wish to breed a cat when so many
need homes is obscene. Stick to the point, you cat-abusing a.shole.

**Double Amen! :-)

I'd also like to add to (the both of) your good comments that I've learned
on this NG some of the best truths, and good advice, about cat's health
issues, etc, compared to any* of the conversations that I've had with my
(very good) vet.

I am sure there are vets that post here (and even more lurkers), but what I
like is that there are a lot of very intelligent, mature, wise, long-time
pet owners, who often by 'trial and error' have learned a lot of wisdom
through and by their own personal kitty cat (+ people ;-) experiences. And
it is these* types that are, IMO, the real root that makes this NG so
interesting and compelling.

In that case.. I will give advise about cats.
Never tie
two cats tails together.. and hang them over a
cloths line.
If you find yourself doing this.. the only way to
get
them down without getting scratched.. is to spray
the
cats with 'nair'[tm].

If you want more veterinarians in your discussion, or in your case
if you just feel like trolling a higher concentration of
veterinarians, try group (alt.med.veterinary).

Interesting question and I know I just don't want to read the
responses.  I can see it already.  Like you, I have made
observations where people might believe they know everything simply
by osmosis, i.e., spending a lot of time at the vet.  Other have
awarded themselves life experience degrees, but don't be fooled, the
learning institutions are unaccredited.  ;)

I once considered getting my vet interested in the group, but give
the recent round of personal attacks against myself and other, I
decided not to.  She loves to share what she can, and given that one
of her first practices was on an Indian Reservation, she had a "pay
what you can" schedule and took things in trade.  Needless to say
she has a beautiful collection of authentic Native American goods
that are probably worth more on the market than she would have
gotten in fees.

But she's much too professional to subject herslef to the likes of
Lyn and Mary, and even you.  I think that just when I see a sincere
question I will forward it on to her and post her response.  She is
really good about email and I can email her non-emergent questions
and she will get back to me.  Sometimes not for a day or two, but
she will.

Hey if buzzard wants to pay I'll gladly accept the tuition funds and go to
vet school in return for a reply here or there to one of his postings!

I don't like Mary at all. That's no secret. But I also respect her
opinions and insights with regards to cats. She definately isn't a
troll. At least not in this froup.

I guess my advice would be that if you have a real problem with your
cat, go to a real vet. I see this froups as a forum to share
experiences and consider everything here either opinion or advice, both
of which I'm free to disregard.

That siad, I have asked medical questions here in the past, but never
based my cats' health on them. This froup's biggest value in that
regard is maybe letting me know what to expect when I do visit the vet.

No chit. Vinny thought I was ramalane since I live in the same general
area and go to the same flea market. I'm not applying for the position.

Thank you, Carl. As someone I have disagreed with most
vehemently in the past, your opinion is worth a great deal. You,
unlike some in this group, can tell the difference between someone
who cares about cats and holds very strong opinions about their
welfare, and an everyday a.shole who is just out to disrupt the
group. I am the former type of a.shole, and I appreciate your
acknowledging it. I also respent your statement that you do not
like me, and I would like to respectfully state that I do not like
you either. 8-) But I do respect you for this! We are entitled to
our opinions and we may voice them--but we may not silence
those who differ with us via sleazeball means and you realize that.
Kudos.

I think you've crystalized my view that this board is for opinion and
advice, not for instruction. If anyone seeks to have this board replace
vetrinary attention and their cat suffers for it, well, that's on the
owner. Any such cat deserves better.
