This will link you to the Jasper folder of my picture site. The ones
from this pic til the end of the album are new. My favorites are the
ones called "JasperPosing" and "JasperBlueEyes" which are the last 2
pics in the album.
Also notable is the husband in the "homecoming3" pic...same husband that
was troubled by the vet payments...and who now is SO thrilled that we
have our Dudley back! :)

Awww... :-) And heh, heh, heh. <g>
In the "Jasper posing" pic, is that a grilled radiator cover behind him?
When I rented an apt. (built in the 50's), my apt. had radiator covers which
my first cat loved, esp. in the winter. They were under the LR, DR, & BR
windows & so made natural perches for her to look out the windows. But in
the wintertime, she'd lie down & s-t-r-e-t-c-h out on the tops of the
radiator covers, exposing as much of her stomach to the warmth as she could.

Yep...grilled radiator cover, providing Jasper (and Luna) with "the warm
spot". Jasper lays down in front of the one in our dining room because
there must also be a warm pipe right under the floors. He SPRAWLS out.
So cute! And in this bedroom where you see the pic...he has a stool with
a blanket on it that he likes to perch on which is right next to the
radiator. He loves those warm spots!!! And now, as I type, he is resting
on a chair in the direct sunlight. Maybe he is aiming for a suntan?! ;)

Cats are born warmth & sun-seekers!

He looks pretty good for as sick as he was!! he looks happy! JasperPosing
made me laugh. What a great old gentleman. Yes, I can see that Hubby is
pretty much a sweetie at heart. No matter what happens, Jasper got a great
home and seems to love you guys too. I'm sure his former owner would be glad
to know that he got such great people to look after him.

Thanks, Karen. I do hope that Virginia is smiling down upon us and
Jasper. She wanted to have her cats put down upon her death. I hope she
sees how great he is doing and realizes what a mistake that would have
been. I don't fault her for her wishes in that she was very old and
probably thought "no one can care for them and love them like I
can"...even though ironically she didnt care for her cats so well in the
past few years that she was so ill. It wasn't malicious though. She
LOVED Jasper and from what I hear, he was always attached to her side.
When Max, the other cat, would chase Jasper around, she would yell at
him like a salty old lady! :)
Man, I love that cat! More than I even realized before he got sick!
On an aside, something I've noticed is that his breath isnt as bad as it
was before he got sick. And sometimes he would wheeze and that has
stopped too. I wonder if there was some other stuff going on that the 2
antibiotics he is on took care of.

He is looking good! I bet after he has more time to recuperate that
third eyelid will disappear. It is very apparent in "Jasper Blue Eyes,"
as is the gorgeous color of his eyes. Your husband is clearly very glad
to see the boy home. Thanks for posting these. Jasper has stolen my heart.

I definitely hope the eyelid retracts with time. I also noticed how
apparent it was in that picture. It doesnt seem so apparently in person
though. But yeah, they are definitely raised a bit.
We got a little poop out of him tonight. A real bonified poop! LOL. And
he is currently munching on his dry food, so that makes me happy, too.
Jasper has definitely stolen my heart too!

See what a cat can do to a tough guy? LOL! That's nothing! My cats sure
make a mush outta me, too!

I don't know how it normally looks - but he looks *great*! How long has his
third eyelid been protruding?

To be honest, I am not sure. I think he looks the same as before. Is it
possible that the 3rd eyelid has always been protruding just a
bit...maybe just as a sign of his old age? Cuz other than that...he DOES
look great! And even more exciting is how we woke up to even more poops
in the litter box! Who ever thought I would rejoice at the sight of a
cat poop?!?!!
:)

Or a sign of ill health due to the temporary and unintentional neglect
of his previous owner after she was not well enough to care for him.
Maybe all that people food caused a deficiency of some sort. I bet it
will go away after you have him for a while.

:::sigh:::
Well, at this point, I am not inclined to freak out about it because all
other signs point to a happier, healthier Jasper. I will mention it to
the vet though soon, especially if it doesn't seem to retract.

This pic is an older one...before he got sick. You can see the eyelid
protruding in that one too...

OF course, I never knew that meant anything. Yet another reason I am
thankful for this group.

I was wondering if it is connected to his blindness.

I started thinking of that aspect as well. Such a mystery! But he just
continues to do great! :D

Could be due to dehydration or from losing some orbital fat. Has he lost
much weight? GI problems can also cause protrusion which resolves in a few
weeks to a few months after the GI problem resolves. Ocular pain is another
cause - but I think that's unlikely. Many times a cause is never found and
it resolves on its own.
Cuz other than that...he DOES

Only cat lovers understand how beautiful cat poop can be sometimes! ;-)

All of those sound pretty possible and it was only a week ago that he
was in some bad shape!!! He's made great progress in a week so I'm not
too worried right now! :)
