My younger kitty routinely paws her way under my sweaters and shirt I wear
under the sweater and cuddles up for a sleep. She is a big time lap cat and
loves to be fussed over but this hiding thing has me stumped. The odd time,
she tries to burrow her way out a sleeve. Any ideas why she would do this?

Probably she is just seeking the extra warmth and the unique 'mummy' smell.
She probably also feels exceptionally safer and at ease by getting under
your sweater.

You'll just have to buy the next size up so you can both fit in!

This makes sense. We got her from a rescue shelter when she was very young.
The shelter woman told us she had been found behind a grocery store and was
a complete mess when they got her in. She is and was very precouscious and
the shelter said they thought she thinks she is a dog (although this turned
out to be her Osicat tendencies). I felt so sorry for her, I carried her
around for a long time (still do).

I guess I will be buying the larger size for us both!

For what it's worth, I think it's adorable =)

My Oscar only did this once, when she was a little kitten and we visited the
vet.  Before the vet even entered the examining room, Oscar climbed up my
shoulder and then down my back, inside my sweatshirt.  It was cute until I had
to find a way to get her out =P

Both of our cats try to hid when we take them to the vet. Stella tucks her
head in my arm and Delilah will hide her head in my hair when I am holding
her. The vet said they think that if they can't see the vet, the vet can't
see them.

I tend to think it's more that your scent and body are comforting.

She loves your smell, she likes hiding,  and she like cuddly wuddly things.
