I had the most horrible nightmare last night. It has disturbed me all day.
I don't know why my mind would come up with something like this.
Warning - this is awful and disturbing:
In the dream, somehow my sweet little tortie, Toffee, was sliced in half. I
was in a kitchen/operating room with my uncle who's a vet, trying to put her
back together. My job was to keep the lower half of her alive. He had to
take out some vertebrae to put her spine back together. I woke up before
knowing whether or not Toffee was going to live. When I got out of bed, I
ran around the house looking for her, and was worried because I couldn't
find her at first. Of course, she was fine.
Why would I even think something like this? It was so awful!

That is very disturbing, Kelly. Maybe your emotions or thoughts are
split about something? ;)

Yea, I've had a few very similar dreams involving a major injury to
one of my cats. Always involving something that is not survivable
and I'm always in a futile attempt to save them.
I have no idea what the psychological implications are of such a dream,
but I'm somewhat relieved to hear that I'm not the only one that has
them.

I have had some disturbing dreams over the years as well. Back when I
was working for a guy with a manx cat, I had dreams of people chasing
my cat with a knife or scissors and trying to cut off his tail.
I've had dreams of them getting out and getting run over. And dreams
that they were sick. I recently had a dream that my first cat was
sick, and my parents had to put her down while i was gone. The truth
is that she died 10 years ago, in my arms. I have no idea why I would
dream such a thing now.
I know there have been other bad dreams over the years. I don't why I
have them, and I am always upset and unable to sleep after them. And I
have to find them and make sure they are okay.
