My neighbor, lamentably without Internet access, so I'm asking for her,
thinks her cat has a cold! For a couple days her cat has been sneezing.
She *did* take him to be groomed on Wednesday and didn't wrap the
carrier in a blanket.

If a cat *can* catch a cold, what home remedies are there?

Thanks!

They can get respritory infections. Especially if they went to a place where
a lot of cats have been like a groomer. If the sneezing or runny eyes are
not bad, you can run a vaporizer to help keep the passages clear, but if it
gets worse or lasts more than 3 or so days or the cat stops eating go to the
vet. These aren't cold colds, but specific infections.

Anyway you look at it if the cat has a respitory infection it needs to go to
the vet.  The sooner the better also if there are other cats in the house it
should be isolated away from them to avoid spreading the infection.

Yes, they can get colds - not caught from humans, not the same viruses.  But
they have their own versions of colds.  Basically same symptoms as a human
cold - stuffed up nose, sneezing, may be lethargic, etc.  The few colds my
cats have had have lasted about a week, w/ them just vegging out on the sofa
for a few days during the worst part of it.
