Bump on my cats back

Hello everyone: I have a fat cat who is the sweetest guy--here's a
picture of him:
http://www.aegeanhills.com/Special/petEntries.html
His name is Eggbert and you can see him halfway down the page.
He has been diagnosed with diabetes and is being treated. My husband
gives him insulin 2x daily--three units.
My question is: he has a bump on his back--and he's been to three vets
and all they say is--weird....
They put needles in the bump and say it's filled with blood--but no one
seems upset by it. What's up with that? They speculate it being a blood
blister--but it's the size of a quarter and it's hard.
I'm sure diabetes doesn't help things--it never does--and now he's on
insulin--so I wonder about this and why no vet is weighing in on this.

Have you seen a feline only vet? How is Eggbert doing on his weight? He
sounds like a sweetie. A sign that said "Don't kill me?"  I just really
think you ought to see a feline only vet on this one. Any vet that just says
"wierd" is not worth paying for the exam.

Sorry i have no idea about the bump, but I looked at the photo and just
wanted to hug him! Nothing quite like a large armful of furry kitty for a
good hug!

Egbert is utterly gorgeous!!!!

One comment. I have a friend (Yes I know you shouldn't extrapolate
from Humans to cats but this is the only thought I had) who is an
insulin dependent diabetic and he has had a couple of hard lumps at
injection sites, they're called lipomas and they are usually harmless.
Is the lump at an injection site?

And go to another vet

What a cutie!

I don't know about the bump, but I'm wondering what you feed Eggbert?  Cats
often lose weight if they're fed canned food instead of dry, and my vet said
she's been able to stop insulin treatments entirely for some diabetic cats
after switching them to exclusively wet food.

Of course, you'd want to talk to your vet before making any changes.

Eggbert eats well and has a great appetite still--he'd probably have to
be comatose in order to not want to eat! His human mom and dad are the
same way so the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree, lol
But I have cut him back, vets orders, to 1/4 cup 2x a day and he gets
about 1.5 oz of canned at night (that the vet doesn't know about).. So
my 25-lb boy is down to 17--so we're making progress and the vet says
his blood glucose level is coming down. It's now 345.
Here's another pic of my handsome, strapping fella--it's a darned shame
that diabetes is now the result. :-(
He's halfway down the page--people at my work call him Buddha cat.

Eggbert is a beautiful boy. He's so lucky you adopted him.

Eggbert is beautiful, if overweight. My Buddha is overweight too, despite
every effort to help her lose.

That's great that he's come down in weight. I hope it continues. I bet he's
a sweetheart.

That's probably because he's diabetic.
