My cat Mickey was adopted from the local humane society were he was
diagnosed with cronic URI and the suggestion was made to keep L-lysine
in his daily diet, but everytime he eats it (mixed in wet or dry food)
he ends up throwing it up.  Interferon was also suggested but he has
the same reaction to that.  If anyone has any other suggestions i would
appreciate it.

I grind the l lysine up with a mortar and pestle. I then add it to all
the dry food as a very fine powder. I even put it in his jars of
treats. It's so fine that he doesn't even know it's there. Hope this
helps.

My cat Garfield has chronic shiffles.  He can't tolerated L-Lysine
either, due to diarrhea.  I did find some capsules, which eliminates
the grinding-just had to sprinkle.

Do you have any other advice for sniffles?  Right now we just wipe his
nose often, and apply unscented chapstick to try to keep the boogies
from sticking!

My kitten had "chronic uri", except that it wasn't.  It had a constantly
runny nose, wheezing and coughing.  After L-Lysine and two rounds of
antibiotics, the vet finally put him under and looked behind his soft
palette.  This is what she found in that kitten's nose:

When she showed me this polyp I asked her "Where's the rest of the kitten?"

I posted a reply about grinding the llysine and adding it to my cat's
treats. I literally just got back from taking my cat to an eye
specialist. She gave me a new product that I didn't know existed and I
thought I'd tell you about it, just in case you  don't know about it.
Mcduffy now get his l lysine as Viralys-gel 5 oz. I'm to give him 1/2
tsp once a day. it's in  atube like toothpaste or catalx. It's fish
flavored and she says that cats really like the stuff. I'm hopeful that
it will help him. He has an eye condition that I can't pronounce or
spell. Hope this helps. Oh, it cost $16.50 for the 5 oz tube.
