I want to thank everyone for their best wishes regarding my cat. His blood
work came back with normal readings, and he is being treated for an
infection with an antibiotic (amoxicillin). The doctor believes it is a
respiratory infection. He was also prescribed an appetite stimulant, but he
began eating a little bit right when we got home. I had never heard him
growl before -- he was one teed off little pussy cat in the cat hospital.
Anyway, he is now home and he goes back next week for a follow-up. He is
already showing more signs of life.
Again, thank you everyone for sending the purrs my way. I didn't sleep a
wink last night, but now that my little buddy is back home, I think I'll
take a nap with him. :)
Sincerely,
ges

The Lord takes this kind of treatment very, very personal."

What a relief for both of you.
I hate it when they are sick -- you can feel helpless.
Hope you're both sleeping well now,
Rhonda

that is EXCELLENT. If he shows signs of flagging again, get him in right
away. Sometimes with these youngsters and infections, you just really have
to stay on top of it until they get over it.

Thank heavens!! Now I bet you will find he is more attached to you
than ever. My cats seemed to know somehow that taking them to the
vet helped them, and became more affectionate with me after their
first visits.

Good news!
Those appetite stimulants can also be good for getting them back on the road
to recovery.
My cat ate like a horse (pardon the phrase) for the first 3 days she was
home which meant she put back some much needed weight.

So glad to hear that your kitty is home and on the road to recovery. There is nothing more heartbreaking than knowing that they are sick and you can't be with them to comfort them. Now that he's home you'll sleep like a log!

He is still very weak, but at least he is eating now and wandering around a
bit more than he was before I took him to the vet. The sudden onset of this
has been the most surprising thing to me. He went from being his usual wild
self, with running all over the place and pouncing on toys and such, to me
waking up Thursday morning seeing him totally still and not moving all day.
That is very puzzling to me, but the doc said sometimes cats hide symptoms
until they can tolerate it no more, and I guess that's what happened here.
He's only 8-months-old and I hope he's around for another 15 or 20 years.
Just having him gone one night was surprisingly depressing for me. I guess
I'm a cat person after all. :)

They are masters at hiding it. As you get to know him longer, you will spot
oddities sooner, but it is still really hard.

I'm glad your baby is back. I agree that it is pretty impossible
to sleep when our cats are sick and in the hospital..........

Always remember - you cannot deny being a cat person if you are owned by a
cat!
