About cat food?

I posted "shedding and flakes?" last week. Thanks for all kindly
responses. Unfortunately I couln't post a follow-up to show my
appreciation (I don't know why I am not allowed to do so).

Anyway, Casey (my new cat) seems shedding less now when I comb her.

And I bought a cat nail clipper (which has a pad to prevent overcut)
and tried to cut tiny tips of one of her back paws (she won't let me
to hold her front paws yet). I will try again when I have a chance.

As for flakes, I look carefully at her skin under fur and couldn't
find any. So it is not issue now.

Now I have a food question. I go through a lot of posts and try to
find a better solution, but still a little confused.

The previous owner of Casey use Special Kitty Hairball Formula from
Walmart. Some people here thinks it is junk food for cats. For me it
is more convenient to buy cat food when I do weekly grocery shopping.
So I bought Purina One Advanced Nutrition Hairball Formula. I am
trying to change to it from Special Kitty little by little. Besides
dry food, I bought 3oz Fancy Feast and I give the canned food on every
Saturday. Casey is very clean, her litter box has no odor and her
stool looks fine(no change).

My questions about food are:
Is it Purina One good enough for her?
How about Iams or other brands?
Should I stick to one brand?

I don't care to pay a little more on food since I have only one cat. I
would like Casey is healthy and happy. Since Casey is doing fine now
and I am asking myself: why should I change her food? Is it necessary?
Are there problems after I changing it?

Any suggestions?

Oh boy.  Prepare to hear a lot of conflicting opinions, unless people have
just gotten bored of the topic.

I tried to feed Oscar Purina, but her stomach didn't seem to like it; at
least, her litter box was much nastier when she was eating Purina dry than
when I had her eat Nutro dry.

My vet encouraged me to feed Oscar wet food (you can read through the
archives; I've posted about this before), so I've switched Oscar to Wellness
wet food.  She seems much more alert and kittenish on this food, and she's no
longer slightly overweight, but now I'm worried she's losing *too* much
weight.  I'll just have to see what happens.

Purina makes several types of dry food, so please specify which type
you are using.

It was at least three years ago.  It probably was One, but I wouldn't swear on
a stack of bibles.  It wasn't the cheapest stuff in the bin, I'm sure of that.
