Tattle tale keeps cat off glass table

Bought a little alarm through a catalog- I've seen these in a couple of
catalogs- and it works!  My two older cats never go on the glass top coffee
table or the glass top table by the mirrored wall.  They are allowed
everyplace else.  But the baby (2 years old) keeps going on one of the
tables and leaving paw prints.  Bought the alarm called a "Tattle Tale" and
it actually worked for us!

Of course I don't look busy,
I did it right the first time.

I don't understand.  Why would an alarm clock keep cats off the table?  Does
it tick and vibrate, or something?

He said alarm not alarm clock. I wonder if this thing has a motion senser so
when the cat gets on the counter it sets it off.

She didn't say "alarm clock."  She said "alarm."

A coworker just saw a picture of my kitten on the dining table (well
after meals) and remarked that "that shouldn't be allowed."  Another
coworker and I broke into hysterical laughter.

Oh.  Sure enough.

Sorry.  I've been working too much lately; a bit brain-scrambled.

I still don't understand how the alarm works, though =P

I've managed to keep Oscar off of tables after kittenhood.  The exception was
when we lived with my brother, because I really can't be too upset at Oscar
for running across the table when there's a dog chasing her, no matter how
well-intentioned the dog might be.

Oh, and the coffee table.  It's not as tall as normal tables, so I don't think
she quite understands that it's not just another couch ... especially when
there's a plate on it *grin*

It must be nice to have a coworker that understands!! Actually, I have a
friend that uses a tattle tale on her dining table and it seems to work
pretty well.

It detects vibrations and sounds an alarm.

I like this type of trainer because the cat associates the sound with her
behavior at the instant of occurrence - not after or with you.

Another good feature of this type of trainer is the "correction" occurs
whether you're present or not.  So, the cat won't associate the correction
only with your presence.

Ah.  Yeah, it does sound good.  I wonder if I could glue it to an upright
mirror so Oscar wouldn't paw them?  It would be nice to be able to see my full
self before I go to work in the morning.

Of course, if I used the alarm, I'd just hear an alarm going all night instead
of "only" the bouncing of the mirror ...

I don't know if my cats are well trained or if I am.  They don't do anything
I don't like...  If they knock something over I say I'm sorry for putting
something in their way! LOL!

Yes, especially when it continues *all night long*!

Our mirrors are all still packed, and the mirrors built in the vanity have
been blocked by boxes so that Oscar won't jump up.  Sigh.

I guess that might make it seem somewhat less adorable... :)

Lately, Pearl will roar around the apartment and then run and jump up on the
bathroom counter and yowl at her reflection like "NOOOoooooo body listens to
me!! I am SOOOOOOoooooo unloved! I can only talk to my SEEEEEElllllllfffff!"
She manages to be quite pitiful.

Of course she does, with all that abuse you heap on her!  *laugh*

Poor kitties are so abused.  Really.

I finally got a chest of drawers to replace the footlocker I've been using for
ten years now.  33 bucks at the thrift store!  Anyway, Oscar's pretty good
about distinguishing tables (no cats allowed) from chairs (cats allowed), but
I always let her sit on the footlocker, and the chest is in the same place ...

Gonna have to sit down and have a little heart to heart with her.  As a friend
of mine used to say about his cat, "Cat butts are only allowed where human
butts are allowed."

Hmm. My butt won't fit where theirs go :)

They walk over me. They walk on my computer desk. We feed them on the
bathroom counter and my bedroom counter. There are very few places
they aren't allowed.

True, she's allowed to sit in shoe boxes, and I rarely try to sit in them =)

Her favorite has a paw-sized hole in one side, so that she can snuggle up in
the box, then reach her arm through the hole to bat at things.  I guess it's a
cat thing; I just don't understand =P

When I had a dog, Oscar's dishes were on the bathroom sink, just to keep Puma
from chowing down.  Now, though, she has her own little spot in the kitchen,
with a kitty-themed placemat and everything.

Yes, we have dogs too, so we have to keep their food up on counters.
We have water in both places.

It does get a little old cleaning nose prints off mirrors though.

It's not a clock.   Vibration sets off about a five second shriek!

Ach! Do you turn it off when you sleep??

I only turn it off to vacuum-also don't sneeze near it.  We all sleep
upstairs and probably wouldn't hear it anyway!

Hmmmmm now I'd need one for the headboard, my dresser, the dh's dresser, The
entertainment center, kitchen table, kitchen counters, on top of the
refrigerator, on top of the foster cat's cage, on top of my laser printer
...........

Like I said, the cats can go all over except the glass table tops.
