Trying to Get a cat with suspected Kidney Failure to eat

I took my cat to the vet on Fri. and he suspects kidney failure, but we will
not know much more until Tues. when blood work comes back. In the meantime she
is very lethargic, sleeps most of the time, through occasionally drinks and
pees. I got her to eat a tiny bit of tuna while she was drinking today.

Any suggestions on how to get her to eat more. There is dry food around. And I
hold up cold cuts etc. in front of her and she turns away.

BTW he gave her some under the skin fluids on Fri.

I feel for your frustration on this one having been through it before. Keep
trying! You never know when they might get the ever so slight urge to try
something & there's nothing like the victory of that moment. For my cat it
was the chicken from the chow mein leftovers. Progress was slow, but we had
her for another year on one kidney. Good luck!!

Thanks for the hope. I had a limited success finally. I tempted her with her
favorite foods and she either ignored me or growled at me. Finally, I tried
dry cat food - which is around the house in bowls - one piece at a time, and
she ate that right up! 10 or 12 pieces. So that is something at least.

I would try canned food.  The extra moisture in the canned food will help
the kidneys.  Also, you could try adding tuna juice to the food to make it
more appealing.  Did your vet suggest feeding your cat any of the kidney
diet foods like Hills k/d or Purina NF?
