So Dave...  picked a name for your little guy yet?

~Shelly~, who thought 'Chief' (short for Mischief) was a good name

Hi Shelly, Dave and Mathew,

the group.

Hey Pamela, you had such a good idea about cats and their names, I started a
new thread with it.  See below, we cat people are having fun telling about
our kitties, you should go there and tell us all about _your_ cats!

Hello Shelly,

I tried Yahoo, and it worked, posted in the Cats name topic. Thanks for
the idea.

Finally decided on "Maxx"

I'd like to thank everyone for their suggestions, and most of them will
get used for stays which are being fostered by a friend of mine (I
pointed her to the thread -- She always harasses me for names, and I'm
totally useful when it comes to names)

Excellent!!!  Since you actually _know_ kitty, you are obviously the one to
know his name!

Welcome, Maxx!!!

Awwww, how sweet.  You have come up with a really thoughtful way to deal
with the influx of kitty names.  You are a very nice guy!  Cat's and people
everywhere are better off for you.

Take care of Maxx and any other pets you may have,

My vote was "Bitey", but I was outvoted :)

Well, maybe you can use that for your next pet... ;-)

No more pets for a while... 40 is enough :)

Bitey wouldn't be good anyway, I can teach him to stop biting.

Admittedly most of them are fish, but still.

What!!!!???

I'm sure you'll both be happier if he does stop biting...

Aw...  Had me going there for a bit.  Are you into saltwater or freshwater?

I've got a 90-gallon (freshwater) that I had to tear down when I moved; it's
still in my old home in another state, so don't know if I'll ever get it
back.  I suspect my ex-husband will sell it just to get it out of the house;
and as I can't afford to store it or ship it, I can't really complain if it
does get sold.  But if I could, I'd set it up next time as a reef tank...

He will.  He's not bad actually, Snoop Dog (the other new kitten) is
actually biting a bit more then Maxx right now.  They're 11 and 9 weeks
respectively -- Our three adults all nipped a bit when they were this
age, but it's nothing we can't train out of them.

It actually isn't a problem when they bite right now, but it won't be
nearly so cute when they're full grown.

Freshwater at the moment -- I've considered saltwater, but I'm not sure
if I'm ready for that type of commitment yet.

Ship it up here! :)

I'll... Umm... Ahhh... I'll pay you back? :)

I'd love one, but I doubt I could afford the shipping :|

I understand...  Oh well...maybe you'll be able to get one later.

BTW, the saltwater setup can get _very_ expensive!  If you decide to go that
route, read up on it first, make friends with the knowledgeable folks at the
fish store, and join one of the rec.aquaria newsgroups.  (But then, you
probably already knew that, didn't you?)

Yeah, saltwater is beyond my price range right now, otherwise I'd have
sold a couple of my larger fish (I have a bully who is in a tank on his
own because he kills anybody I put in the tank with him) and set up a
saltwater tank already.

I had one of them - a bela shark that consistantly killed off all but a
select few.  Anything new was toast!  Oh, those were the days...

Anyway, when you finally get your saltwater tank set up, post and let us
know (also, we need pics and names!)
