TK's 10 months into leaving the feral world behind and he's becoming
quite an affectionate housecat. A month ago he started doing the "paw
thing", as my wife calls it (kneading). A week ago he added a bite to
the kneading. He'll climb up on my chest when I lie down, start purring
and pawing, and then bite down on my shoulder and hold on for 3 or 4
minutes. He keeps purring and pawing the whole time and seems to
wheeze and grunt a little between purrs. Kinda cute, but he bites down
hard. He only does it with me, and only bites my right shoulder. It seems
like some kind of maternal thing, but I've never seen the bite from any
other cat. What does he think he's doing?

Whoa! Did you mean 3-4 seconds?? In any case I think he really,
really loves you as this sounds like what males do when they mate.
As some sage person just put it yesterday in this group, not having
much of a forebrain boy cats cannot discriminate between "love
and lust."

In my experience many human males also have this problem.

You are so right!
Has the cat been neutered?

That doesn't seem to matter. Grant gets like this sometimes.

Glad to hear it. Maybe it's not THAT unusual.

I don't think it is. I never had one until Grant that was that lovey, but
I've seen lots of posters that have similar love bugs. I don't even think it
is the "domination" thing as much as "I love you so much I want to just eat
you up" kind of thinking.

No!! 3 - 4 MINUTES. He just clamps down, paws, purrs, grunts,
wheezes, and drools. Then gets up and lies down somewhere
nearby. It hurts a little...like a solid pinch. I've just been letting
him continue to try and figure out what he's trying to do.

Oh.....great! I've got a cat that needs a therapist!! I've always
thought that he may be a little loony.
I suppose I should just be happy that he likes me.

I think I'll reserve comment on that last line. :)

Does he light a cigarette? ;)

Of course! Love bites are very special. Cheeks gave me my first couple
the other day--and she has been here since November 2001. I was on the
phone, typically a time she pays me a lot of attention. When rubbing her
face
all over me did not get my attention, she began gently but firmly biting my
finger!
All the while purring up a storm and head butting me. Cats are just weird
and
wonderful.

Maybe we can agree that almost all love is good. :)

Have you ever considered a career in standup comedy?
Yea, It's a serious question.

Hee! No, I am satisfied to annoy and amuse my friends and
neighbors. I'm glad you thought it was funny. Seriously, you
are lucky your cat loves you so much!
