Knows when we are leaving

My cat always seems to know when we are going to leave,her whole mood
will change.Once we return she is her oldself,any answers?

Chloe knew when we were going to fa-in-law for New Year. We left food and
milk and waved goodbye at the door, where she sat
looking a bit sad. When we arrived home she rushed out to greet us.
Though we have only "owned" her for a month she trusts us to return.
