this cat who is taking over my bed in the middle of the night
is trimming her own nails at this very moment of 2:50 AM?
is this normal and healthy?
several times a week she does this and i hear clip clip clip...
i look over and she is biting her own nails so they are
not razor sharp. her little paw curled in her mouth like
some neurotic cat.
do i have to take her to a kitty psychologist?
is there something wrong with her?
why does she not like razor sharp nails?
very strange. she seems okay. now she's back asleep
in the middle of my bed while i type this urgent message on
the computer.

This sounds perfectly normal to me. Two of my cats regularly will chew at
their nails. Since neither likes them clipped and they don't seem to be
hurting themselves doing this I just let them be. The only bad thing is
that once Squeekers got a piece of nail caught on one of his fangs and was
drooling alot. When I looked to see why he was drooling I notices the piece
of nail and removed it.

Is she actually trimming them - biting off the tips? Or is she maybe
chewing at them, loosening the old claw sheaths that are about ready to come
off? If the former, hey, she's doing you a favor, IMO! ;-) I've seen my
cats chewing at their claws; I think they're just doing a cleaning, or
perhaps working at the old claw sheaths.
