A fellow volunteer just emailed looking for help on something that came out
of her foster cat's butt :)
Apparently, it resembles yellow seaweed and was seen in the litterbox and
coming out of the cat's bottom. For background, this cat has chronic
diarrhea and she is now on California Natural and Wellness, supplemented
with basmati (sp?) rice and acidopholis (sp?). She is taking the sample to
the vet's for ID, but in the meantime, any ideas? She is a feral trapper
and has seen lots of worms in her time, but can't figure out what this might
be. She also has no plants, real or artifical, in the house.

This will sound gross but she needs to rinse the diarrhea off the specimen to
see what it really looks like. I once picked up (with tongs) what I thought was
a brown worm but after rinsing it was neon orange and easily identifiable as a
type of tapeworm. Use saline solution if you can to preserve the specimen. Then
put it in a baggie with saline solution and put in the frig until she can take
it to the vet. The cat could have also eaten a piece of fabric, tinsel,
trash...
