My parent's chocolate tabby, Cocoa, walked away a few nights ago and
hasn't come home. They have resigned themselves to the idea that he
went away to die. He was 14 and live on several acres and never went
off the property for any reason. He was a champion mouser and in the
springtime looked a bit like a basketball with legs for all the new
prey that was running around. They didn't notice him acting ill, but
did note he has been slowing down. The way their other cat, Carter, is
trying to look disaffected, but sleeping in all of Cocoa's spots, they
think Carter knows he won't be back. Dad has been looking for his body
everywhere he might have gone because they would like to bury him, but
no luck. Dad wasn't fond of cats, but Cocoa was all his.

What a gorgeous cat! I've never seen one with such a rich brown
color. I hope you find him and I hope he didn't go away to die. He
tooks like a strong cat and probably had some good years left. MLB

He is a beautiful cat. It was almost a shame to neuter him and know we
couldn't make more like him.

Brandy, what a beauty! I hope your dad finds the body, I know sometimes
that really helps the grieving process...

What a handsome devil! Maybe he just went for a wander and will be back
soon. My thoughts are with your parents.

Hi Brandy ,
I'm sorry about Cocoa disappearing but don't give up hope . Has your
father rung the local vets and shelters and asked around ? Was he a
friendly cat , maybe being so beautiful someone took him home or
thought he was a stray . I don't consider 14 that old and I don't
think he would die just like that with out showing some signs of
illness .
For those of you with out door cats , its best to keep them in at
night .
