Hello all.  My wife and I just adopted a four month old kitten from a
local animal shelter.  She's been good so far, eating good and using the
litter box when she needs to.  My question is, our kitten is starting to
yearn for the outdoors now.  She'll sometimes sit at the door and
meow.  .  Is there any way to train her not to be waiting there to
dart out when someone opens it from the other side?

You've got to give her a lot to do inside. Get her a cat tree. Lots of toys.
Some window perches. It will pass. Or she is also the pergect age to learn
that you can be outside on a leash and harness (never just a collar) with
you guys, but not other times. Cats love schedules. If you put her on an
"out time on leash" schedule, she'll always adhere to it.
