If Hodge is using the corner regularly, it's probably in part because
you haven't eliminated the odor and he's returning to mark over it.
Don't waste your money on Nature's Miracle. Use Anti-icky poo or Petzyme
Cat Stain and Odor remover, soak the area making sure it gets down deep
into the carp[et pad and make sure it stays wet for a day or two then
blot and let dry naturally. You should also block the area using an
upside down milk crate, or put a litterbox there. Has Hodge had a
urinalysis done or had an xray to check for stones? If not it would be
wise to rule out a physical cause for this behavior. Cats with ongoing
behavior issues sometimes develop physical causes for the things they do
which are overlooked because they are assumed to still be behavioral.

"Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one
elementary truth the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and
splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then
providence moves too. A whole stream of events issues from the decision,
raising in one's favor all manner of unforeseen incidents, meetings and
material assistance, which no man could have dreamt would have come his
way."
