I've been using mostly Everclean brand litter  with my two cats but want
to change to a more heathy chumping with no dust.
Odor is a major issue besides dust as we move the box from basement to
dining room area during the winter months.
Read about  feline pine  brand but am just not familiar with any other
brands except Ever Clean. And brand must be clumping.
TIA

Try World's Best. It's corn based. Suggest you mix the two at first to avoid sudden
change in litter.

I use it in my Littermaids and it clumps well. The organic litters are probably
healthier for the cats. The WB does have a corn odor and it's best to mix it in
gradually to let the cat get used to it. Another one that has less odor is Swheat
Scoop. It also clumps well but does not absorb as well and tends to stick to the pan
more.

The corn and wheat litter seem to suppress odors better than clay.

My own experience has been the opposite, that a premium clumpling litter like
Everclean does a far better job of suppressing odor than do Swheatscoop and
WBCL. I've tried a lot of different kinds of litter, and come back to
Everclean. YMV.

Not me.  I cannot abide the smell of clay litter.  I suspect I may be
allergic to it.  The minute it gets used I know it, and I get an upset
stomach and a headache.

I recently bought some Cat Attract out of desperation (didn't work at all)
and my frugal nature won't allow me to toss it until it's used up.  But I
couldn't keep it upstairs any longer, and moved it to the basement.  Even
then the odor bothers me whenever I have to open the basement door!

Same here. I can't stand clay based little. Just pouring the clean
stuff into the box would set off my allergies, and it would take half
an hour for the dust to settle. Even the dust-free stuff bothered me.
I f I am desparate, and the pet stores have closed already, I will buy
the crystal stuff. It trackes horribly, but at least it doesn't have
that smell.

When my mom had cats too, we had litter boxes upstairs. She had her
cheap clay litter, and I had my swheat scoop. Everytime she went on
vacation (and I had to do her boxes), I would switch them all to my
litter. Now, we just have the two boxes in the basement with me. So,
no more clay litter in the house. I wouldn't even use it you gave it
to me free. I just can't handle the allergic reaction. I can even
taste the stuff in the air if I don't keep my mouth shut. I used to
wear a mask when changing the box. Now, I am able to do it normally.
Sometimes, I catch a whiff of the litter, but it doesn't bother me at
all.

I suppose it is all personal preference. Most people love flowers and
perfumes, yet all but one of those (carnations) make me gag (and
cough, sneeze, and blow my nose).

hmmm, more experiments to follow.  thank god Shaina doesn't care what
kind of litter i give her.  we are on a 3 type of litter (or 4th?) and
she deoesn't care.  as long as it covers poop, she is happy.  i once
got her Exquisicat crystals cat litter.  it looked like rock salt and
when she got into the litter box, as she does right  after i clean it,
she looked confused because her little paws were sinking in it and
sliding.  she tried to dig and she was sliding again.  i mixed what i
had left of Fresh Step litter and it made the mix easier to stand on.
after she had her spay surgery, we brought her home and put shredded
newspaper into the litter box as the vet told us.  she was fine with
the paper.

I have one cat who checked out  the pellet type litter and went and
used my bed instead. I had regular litter by the next day. Won't ever
use that stuff again. I'd be better off giving him an empty tub than
using that stuff. It's funny how some of them have their special
preferences. So far, I have been fortunate that I have never had any
cats with conflicting preferences.

Maybe it's just me but the Swheat Scoop seemed to have a strange odor of
it's own that I found unpleasant.

My cats found the odor objectionable too--they tried to avoid using the Swheat
Scoop until they absolutely had to, and then would rush to get out.

I thought it was a lot dustier than all the clay litters we have tried
too.  Plus the cats ate it.

We use Swheat Scoop and are happy with it.  It's naturally clumping and it's
made from wheat.  Some people have a problem with it sticking to the box.  What
we do is use a heavy duty plastic garbage bag as a litterbox liner and have no
problems.

We use Swheat Scoop also.  I love it because it's all natural (and
flushable; if you soak it).  There is still some dust but there's no perfume
dust cloud.  It can stick to the bottom but I keep the litter level pretty
deep and it helps.  It is a clumping litter.  My cat had no problem
switching over from Arm and Hammer Crystal Blend.

If you clean the litterbox once a day odor shouldn't be a problem.

Not clumping, but the silica crystals / pearls litter is worth a shot.
Feline pine doesn't clump either, FWIW.

Avoid Odor Lockers, it clumps about as well as a Not Very Clumpy Thing
on a day of Low Clumping. Actually the Arm and Hammer flushable I
found to be a bit duff in this respect, too.

I use World's Best and wouldn't change for anything. It's odor free, flushable,
non-toxic, hard clumping, not gooey like clay litter, I could go on and on. I
did try Swheat Scoop about a month ago because it's about half the price. It
was also half as good, honestly. The clumps were not hard and I had trouble
scooping. Perhaps it's because I'm totally spoiled by WBCL, but what can I say?
It recently started being sold at Petsmart, but I used to buy it from
waggintails.com.

Precious Cat.  I have tried them all and it wins, hands-down.
