Just a guy and his cat - 07 Nov 2004 18:43 GMT
Hi all. Sorry to be a pest but i have another newbie question. I use a
plastic liner in George's litterbox and I can change and clean the
litter box and refill it and within a day the litter liner is full of
holes from the cat scratching it. Is this something normal that you
folks deal with and just accept it or is there some solution to it,
other than using no liner?

Those litter liners totally worthless. Unless
you have declawed cat they will always have holes. It
is better to leave the box naked and wash it once a month
or so if you use good scoopable litter.

Hodge is front declawed (NOTE: NOT MY DOING), and he still puts holes in
it. I suspect it just tears around the edges. The liners aren't very
thick.

I gave them up as pretty useless because of this. Just an unneeded expense.
I guess it is slightly better on the box, but you still have to put it in
another sack, so it's kind of wasteful.

I gave up on liners umpteen years ago - more hassle than what they're worth,
IMO.  Otoh, that was in the days of regular litter.  With scoopable litter -
which makes keeping the box clean much easier, I don't think I'd even
consider liners.

Just a Guy,

I use the sifting plastic liners and clean the litter a couple of times
a day; the clumps just come up with the litter.  If I am a little slow
at lifting the liner to clean it, then I find the plastic can rip, but
not if it's changed frequently.  I really do like the sifting liners.  I
wash the boxes once a week or so, so only put 14 in at a time.
