2 cat questions

Just a guy and his cat - 31 Oct 2004 20:18 GMT

I'm a relatively new cat owner, George has been with me since
September and I have a couple of questions. First off, does raw catnip
sprinkled over the cat food <1 tsp> have the same digestive aid
properties that the grass you can grow for cats has? Also, do cats
have feelings in their tails? Often I'll have a bath at night and
George will pay me a visit. Sometimes he'll sit on the edge of the
bathtub just looking around and about an inch or two of his tail will
go in the water. It doesn't seem to bother him, doesn't elicit any
reaction at all really. He'll just sit there with part of his tail in
the water. Any ideas?

Not that I know of.

Also, do cats

Yes, they have feelings in their tails. Yet one of my cats used to do the
same thing, re: inch or two of end of her tail in the bath water, & she
appeared to be completely unaware of it. ;-)

My maine coon does the same - he sits on the sink when I wash my hands
too with his tail in the sink. Doesn't bother him - but he does not
like being splashed......The 3 other cats won't go near the sink when
its runnig .

My old calico kitty (Scamper- RB early this year), would do the same
thing, but she had a thing about water- she'd get into the shower with
me and sit in the mist- not the direct spray from the shower, but the
mist that bounces off the floor of the stall. She'd also go out and
sit in the mist from the lawn sprinklers. When she was thoroughly
soaked, she'd come in and want to be petted. yuck... wet cat. She
always looked so insulted when I'd rub her all over with a towel before
letting her up on my lap.

Personally, I wouldn't feed the cats catnip. I never heard of doing that.
They like to roll in it and cuddle with toys that have it. My Pepper used
to dangle her tale in the bath water when she was younger. I think she
liked that the water was warm. She still loves to drink even hot bath
water.

catnip is a member of the mint family. Most cats actually want to eat it.
There is no problem with them eating it.

many things I have read say it helps diagestion. I leave it out freely
for the cats and when the scratcher hasn't got catnip on it they let
me know. They sit at the door of the cabinet that I keep the catnip in
an stare at it...then me ...then it....hint hint...so I give them a
refill. Gee who's trained?
