Really Unusual Cat

We got a new intake that has to be the most unusual cat I've ever seen come
through. We've talked about moggies here, and shelter who hang purebred labels
on them, but if I were going to hang a label on this one, I wouldn't know which
one.
She is marked like a Siamese cross, with blue eyes. She is petite. She has a
very short coat. Her face is smooshed like a Persian. Her head is as round as a
bowling ball, and her eyes are large and perfectly round, like a Scottish Fold.
If I get back down there I'll get a picture, but I was wondering. Is there any
breed with a smooshed face and short coat?

Could be a kind of Burmese -- they have very round faces, slightly
pushed in with big eyes.  Kinda look like Yoda.

Could be an 'exotic' persian (shorthaired persian)

I had an adopted cat labelled an "exotic shorthair" but it had very long
hair and looked like a traditional Persian.

I saw an exotic persian at a rescue centre last month. He had a normal
shorthair coat but the persian scrunched up nose and persian temperament.

There is a photo of him in the 'cats available for adoption' section of
their website - he is 'Teddy'

Exotic sharthair? I hope you get pics. Sounds like this one will find a home
fast.

Thanks everyone. Do they come as masked cats? This cat has got to be a breeder
mistake or something like that, or the product of someone's purebred mixed with
moggie. I'll also check her paperwork and see what the story is on her. She
came in already spayed, which is also not that common.

Yes, exotic shorthairs can be pointed (Siamese-type color pattern.) See an
example at http://www.bellakitty.com/

If the cat just has a round face without the "smooshed in" quality, it could be
another breed or mixed breed with points. Points do not necessarily mean a cat
has a purebed in its background.

Oh, I don't think it's a purebred for sure. The face isn't extreme enough, and
it doesn't have a true mask either. It's just a weird-looking little cat. I do
think there's a purebred in the woodpile somewhere, though :-)
I hope this isn't a trend-I mean, I just hope there's not somebody out there
playing "breeder" and producing them deliberately.
Poor little thing, I just can't stop thinking about her. She is so timid and
scared.

After the Twisty Kats incident, I would not be surprised at the crazy ideas
some people playing "breeder" come up with.

This kitty sounds like a real sweety. I'm sure you'll find a good home for her
soon.
