I have a young male cat (1 and 1/2 years) who jumps up on our shoulders and wraps himself around our necks. He will remain like this for long periods of time. I also have a Tonkinese who does this (male, also). Do others have cats who do this? He would also do it while I was eating, and stretch his neck out to try to get the food off of my fork before it reached my mouth! He now just contents himself balancing on my arm and shoulder. I've known several smaller cats who did that, but our two are much too large. They're too large for a lap to be comfortable for them, much less shoulders. Rosalie's foster home had a cute little black and white tuxedo cat named Violet who would leap onto the shoulders of complete strangers and stay up there forever, until someone removed her. My Maine Coon sleeps on the pillow above my head (between me and the headboard).
