Greetings:

You all may remember that last week Rosalie, my formerly feral cat who has
lived with me since last March, took the big step of curling up next to my
legs while I was watching tv. Well, evidently the first step is the
hardest, because last night, after curling up on the hassock by my legs for
a while, she traversed the precarious knee area and walked into my lap! She
started purring immediately, I gave her lots of pets and scritchies and she
purred more, and she settled in for a good hour or so! She even stayed
there through some shifting, which I thought was impressive for a first
timer. It was wonderful! I am so pleased and happy! Just thought I'd share.

Congratulations! Now, you need to invoke the rule that we have in our
house. A cat on the lap is sacred. The one without a cat on lap must
get up and get tea, newspaper, etc. Works really well.

Thanks, everyone! It's nice to share this news with people who
understand. She sat on my lap again last night so it seems to be becoming
a habit -- excellent!

I had a lappcatt once. Really!! No pun! And I BOOTED HER OUTSIDE because of it.
She was a good cat in every other way, but I just couldn't stand that clinging
and possessiveness all the time. This was years ago when I was married to my
first wife (an overemotional basket case if there ever was one).
We continued to take care of her for a while and then she up and left. She
liked that inside life, I should think. Too bad. Her and the ex were cut out of
the same piece of cloth. She could have taken her when I booted HER out of the
house (for pretty much for the same reasons).
