Elmo is five months old and has boundless energy.  He loves to bat a
practice golf ball around the room.  This evening, I threw his ball across
the room - through the open door and into the adjoining room.  Elmo took
after it at top speed.  I heard him chasing it around the room.  Soon
after, he came running back with the ball in his mouth.  He dropped it at
my feet.  I threw it again ... and he retrieved it!  We did this about ten
times.  I was amazed.  Elmo was delighted.

Anybody else have a cat that fetches?

I've had a couple of them. It's pretty common. (Sorry if you
wanted to think Elmo was unique!)

Grant used to do it all the time. He has kind of grown out of it, but for a
couple of years, he was really into it.

My Jeffrey loves to fetch his little toys (mouse and ball) and my Mom's cat,
Louie, fetches when he feels like it. Louie has a thing for 3 pipe cleaners
twisted together and made into a ring shape. He fetches those.

I'd never had one that fetched before, either.

My little George does it every morning while I'm trying to eat
breakfast. He also purposely bats this little ball under the couch
numerous times a day and will crouch and point at it until I fish it
out for him. Used to do that with the stove but I put a stick under
there blocking it. Alot easier to lift up couch than an oven.

My 3 year old Jasmine taught me how to play fetch a couple months after
bringing her home (she was almost a year old when I got her).

She doesn't want to play it as often as she once did, but she LOVED it
-for about a year.

It's not exactly a 'fetch' game, but one of my cats brings  her 'ratties'
(furry toys kept in a box downstairs) to my bedroom (upstairs) every night and
announces the fact with low meowls. Of course I praise her loud & long and
return all the ratties to their box in the morning so we can begin again.
