Hi. I would appreciate any suggestions to my question
I scoop out my buddy's cat box every day but am having
a bit of a problem about how to discard the clumps.
If I have a garbage bag that is ready to go out I'll dump
the clumps in it but if I don't I put the clumps in a gallon
size zip-lock bag, seal it and throw it in my kitchen garbage.
I'm sure there's a better way and was hoping for some suggestions.

Thanks in advance,
James

I just use plastic grocery bags, tie them up and toss them outside into the
big trash can so they don't stink up the house.  We keep a little bin by the
litter box we just stuff the bags into every time we go food shopping.

Rob,
I do the same thing....use those plastic grocery bags, throw them in the big
trash can in the garage.

I tie mine up in plastic grocery bags, doubled, each time I scoop.

I keep a fairly large plastic garbage bucket with a good sealing top
near the litter boxes.  It is lined with a garbage bag.  When I scoop, I
put the lumps in the bucket.  Once a week, when I go to the dump, I
empty the bucket into the plastic bag containing the rest of the
garbage.  After I empty the bucket, I put some baking soda in it.  I get
no smell from the bucket.

I used flushable litter, so I just dump them in the toilet.

This really creeps me out. I *know* it says the litter is flushable. I just
can't bring myself to do it. We have our own septic system, and so we're
responsible for the thousands of dollars to fix it if I screw it up flushing
litter. Is there anyone out there who can offer some info. that it's really
safe?

Sherry,

We have used it in Buddha's box for about three months now. We are on city
sewer and water, but the house is pretty old and so is the plumbing. No
trouble yet. I do want to say that the toilet we flush the clumps in is the
old fashioned big volume kind--not the water savers that get clogged easily.
My husband loves this litter, but I am not sold. First major clog and it't
out of here.

I'm on city sewer, so I can't testify about septic systems.  Sorry!

Didn't realize there was flushable litter.

Thanks,
James

I just use grocery bags that I save. Tie them up and toss in garbage each
night.

The litter we use comes in a re-sealable plastic bucket. When the bucket is
empty I put a tall kitchen trash bag in the bucket and scoop the boxes into
that. On trash day remove bag and throw out.. If it gets too heavy for the
bag I toss the bucket too. With 4 cats + 4 fosters we go through a lot of
litter so I always have empty buckets to use.

I bought one of those tiny plastic garbage cans (2gallons?).  I line it with a
plastic bag.  Then when I scoop out the box, I put the waste in one of those
fruit/vegetable clear plastic bags, then throw it in the plastic garbage can
which is in the garage.

Hmmm. I suppose those baby diaper container things would work too...

I use a clumping flushable litter. Discarding the clumps is easy - into the
toilet they go and in one flush they're gone.

I also scoop our three litter boxes daily, I have a five gallon bucket
I line with a small garbage bag, start with the box in the bedroom and
finish with the 2 boxes in the garage pen I built. I dispose of it in
the large garage barrell but put some A & H in the barrel with it so
it doesn't smell.
