My cat, as soon as he gets out the door, rolls around like crazy on the
cement. He does it all year round, so it isn't for the heat or cool. do you
think its a good scratcher material or something? do other peoples cats do
this?

I don't have indoor outdoor kitties any more, but mine used to do that
regularly. Like they couldn't help themselves. This really facilitated
retreival when they weren't *supposed* to be outside because they simply
could not resist a roll on the cement once they had bolted outside. I think
it just feels really good.

All my cats do that, the rare times they get
out (and right back in with my assistance!).
They prefer the rougher concrete of the
driveway to the smoother concrete of the
patio, so I assume it's the texture they like.

My three cats are house-cats.

We live in a flat with a shared hallway but whenever I open our door
to check for any mail they all gallop out and hang around the front
door. BISCUIT rolls around the floor mat and has a jolly time of it
while JADE tries to get into the meter cupboard.

Once the mail was dropped through the door while they were down there
and they all except MAGI shot back upstairs into our flat until they
felt the mail was harmless before galloping back down again.

If I open the front door to give them a sniff of outside they all
gallop back upstairs again - except MAGI - and stay there until I
close the door.

I made the mistake of thinking the cats genuinely wanted to go out so
I got the collar and lead and proceeded to take BISCUIT out. She was
fine until we came too close to a railway tunnel when she freaked. In
trying to control her panic she nearly ripped my arm off (I'm
exaggerating, of course, but it did not feel that way at the time!!!)

So for the time being and until we can buy a house with a garden, I'm
happy for them just to roll around downstairs. ;-)
